Enterprise Systems Architect

Job description / Role

We are looking for an Enterprise Systems Architect for our Dubai office to be responsible for the system architecture design of my client product implementations for clients. My client targets and wins large deals that require careful planning and design of my client products and involve complex IT implementations in high security environments. System performance, disaster recovery and backup, scalability and availability are all key considerations in these implementations.

The Enterprise Systems Architect role encompasses both a customer-facing and an internally-facing aspect, with a global remit. In this role the Systems Architect will act as an IT expert and apply IT architecture and software/hardware knowledge to design robust and scalable implementations to meet client specific needs.

The Key Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure design: Internal/external infrastructure solution design and review when product/environmental changes occur
- Hardware requirements: Internal/external hardware specification recommendations for My client product implementations and recommendations for hardware refreshes
- My client Product Implementation: Installation design and assistance with implementations to ensure standards are met including customizations for customer installations
- Operational process design and implementation: Develop standards for server and system implementations, design best practice operational procedures for all products, create generic standard scripts and applications to support standard product installations, create bespoke scripts and processes when required
- Performance: Create and publish baseline performance figures; test, recommended and document generic tuning parameters; provide advice on tuning for best performance on customer equipment
- Implementation sign off: Make sure that systems meet quality standards and procedures, develop and carry out acceptance testing procedures to ensure systems are working properly
- Third party product/service analysis: General product research and select the new technologies while keeping constraints in mind (cost, time frame and security)
- Design documentation: best practice and train Technical Services and Professional Services Consultants; infrastructure and system design rules
- Pre sales technical assistance: Provide advice to sales teams and assist during pre-sales meetings, design and assist with pilot deployments
- Standardization and knowledge capture: Work with the regional Systems Architecture practice to keep consistency across regions and products, and define global standards for Systems Architecture

Requirements

- Preferably computer science degree
- Extensive experience in IT implementation projects involving complex infrastructure, network, and application management requirements
- Hands on experience in systems definition, sizing and design
- Business continuity, disaster recovery and high availability knowledge
- Windows Server 2012+ and Enterprise Linux (Red Hat, SUSE, Ubuntu) experience
- Big data and NoSQL experience
- Virtualization and hosting/cloud computing (VMWare, Azure, AWS)
- Scripting (Shell, Python, PowerShell) and Automation (Chef, Puppet)
- Network design and security, including good knowledge of the TCP/IP stack
- Information and cyber security knowledge
- Good troubleshooting/problem solving skills
- Good communication skills
- Excellent client facing skills
