Estimator Engineer

Job description / Role

Urgent requirement for an estimator for a leading fit out contractor in Dubai. Must have F&B, interior and fast track experience.

SUMMARY (Brief summary of the position):
- The preparation, submission, and negotiation of tenders.
- Securing of a profitable work stream for the business by ensuring that bids are prepared in a timely manner, are attractive to our customers, and meet the company’s requirements.
- Operating in an as efficient a manner as possible by promoting consistent practices, utilizing information technology and using feedback from actual projects.
- Seeking to improve competitiveness by innovative thinking.
- Engaging all disciplines into the work winning process.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implementation of company practices in tendering.
- Liaison with external consultants.
- Establish bid strategies from earliest possible stage.
- Attend site visits and prepare site visit reports including borrow areas and dump sites
- Preparation of prime cost and ensuring the robustness of the cost estimate
- Reconcile relevant resources with planning and management
- Liaise with procurement regarding suppliers and subcontractors, advise on vendors clarifications and exclusions.
- Investigate Value Engineering options and recommend solution, based on cost, quality and availability.
- Completion of fully considered tenders at final review stage.
- Advise on finalisation matters of risk, qualification and margin.
- Successful post tender negotiations.
- In conjunction with the Business Development function prepare pre-bid submissions / pre-qualification documents.

Requirements

Estimator - The salary band is 15-25k/mth.
- Hotel / Restaurant pricing experience would be useful.
- Maybe a joinery background would be a good thing as heavily Joinery biased.
- Start date immediate.
- Local experience
- Experience of working with a Fit Out Main Contractor

COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Computer literate. Detailed knowledge of Estimating Software.

- Logical and well organised with ability to prioritise.
- Numerate and accurate.
- Presentation skills - Written and Verbal.
- Positive response to pressure.
- Technically competent in the estimating process.
- Works collaboratively.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma/Bachelor Degree in Engineering or similar.
- Five (5) years minimum experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in the construction Industry with 3 years in a structured estimating environment

SUSTAINABILITY INPUT:
- Basic understanding of sustainability
