Job description / Role

PURPOSE
To repair and fabricate piping and structural on well head platform, well head towers and process plants.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Obtain work permits, review work assigned and arrange for necessary materials, tools and equipment to complete the task.
• Review shop drawing issued for fabrication and prepare the required materials. Report any discrepancies in the drawing regarding measurement, specification, quantity etc.
• Complete the assigned task safely within the time assigned for them.
• Assist the Structural foreman to conduct survey for estimating the identified maintenance works in the field or plant and to prepare necessary sketches.
• Ensure all tools and test equipment are kept clean and serviceable and advise foreman of spare parts requirements.
• Ensure that all activities are conducted within company standing instructions and procedures and good oil industry practice.
• Maintain proper coordination with colleagues and ensure safety of plant and personnel working in the team.

• Immediate work associates, Foreman/Senior technicians, Barge Engineer.
• Occasionally other trade personnel
• Structural Foreman, Supervisors of other trades when carrying out rigging work for them.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Able to take charge of a group of small team and provide guidance to them as small team leader.

REPORTS TO
SUPERVISOR

INDEPENDENCE OF OPERATIONS
Works in accordance with normal safety procedures, standing instructions, procedures and international standards for steel/piping fabrication.

PHYSICAL EFFORT
Physically demanding jobs like lifting, climbing, bending and using hand tools, occasionally moving large materials.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Approximately 90% of working time spent exposed to prevailing weather conditions, dirt and noise when on site. The reminder is spend in an air-conditioned environment.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Secondary school level.
• Completion of secondary technical education, with mechanical option.
• Minimum 8 years’ experience as fabricator preferably in the Petrochemical or Oil & Gas industry.
• Should be familiar with safe hot working practices in Oil & Gas industry.
• Good command of English language, written and spoken.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (IF ANY)
• Physically fit for outdoor heavy work, handling steel structural/piping materials etc.
• Attentive cooperative with responsible attitude / character.
