Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Responsibilities:

Curriculum:
- Have a thorough understanding of student attainment and progress across the year group
- Keep up-to-date with new teaching and learning strategies and resources (approved) internationally.
- Ensure that the curriculum is implemented thoroughly and effectively and that schemes of work and faculty development plans are maintained and regularly updated.
- Maintain effective communication with the exam officer/external examiners to ensure up to date curriculum and compliance.
- Work with the HOS /Exams officer to manage internal audit/verification processes where appropriate
- Ensure the use of international benchmarks to set challenging targets, monitor student achievement and implement intervention strategies where required
- Ensure that effective formal and informal assessments are appropriately set, moderated and are following the school's assessment and moderation policies. Keep moderation folders up to date.
- Liaise with ACe department and G&T cords to ensure appropriate support and extension is present
- Ensure that there is progression of the subject through the school FS- Year 13 (pathways), where appropriate
- Actively plan and implement options evenings, sixth form applications, booster sessions and student mentoring.

Professional Development
- Ensure that teachers have access to appropriate resources and are targeted for training to support curriculum development and delivery.

Reporting
- Collaboratively develop the SDP. Create, maintain and regularly update an action plan in line with the schools policy on self-evaluation, ensuring that all teachers understand their role within it.
- Maintain thorough records in terms of student subject punctuality and attendance, teacher performance management.
- Report on faculty progress against SDP and targets to SLT regularly throughout the year
- Ensure that student performance data is shared with the appropriate group of people, i.e. new students entrance test data and data at the point of transition
- Oversee faculty members use of the GLG

Requirements

Other
- Promote excellent teamwork and collaboration, developing highly effective working relationships; provide guidance, support and motivation.
- Follow and support all school aims, policies and practices including Teaching and Learning Policy,Behaviour Policy, Marking and Reporting Policy and Assessment Policy as well as the non-negotiables.
- Develop and maintain subject specific policy where required.
- Be responsible for managing the annual faculty budget in collaboration with the SLT and Finance Committee. Work with the HOS to develop exam fee structure.
- Support the HoS with departmental staff recruitment when required.
- Support teachers within the department in terms of student behaviours and pastoral care, liaising with the HoS, PL, LM or parents, where appropriate.
- Contribute to extracurricular activities Inter-House competitions, intra and inter school events, educational visits, performances, parent consultations, prize-day, charity drives and other student events.
- Check all reports before each release date
- Report any health and safety concerns to the Manager School Operations
- Undertake other professional duties as reasonably delegated by the ExecSLT/PL (break duties, exam invigilation, detention and cover, after-school duty, Support/Activity classes, exam marking, MoE formalities etc.)
- Any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Principal
