General Manager - Catering (UAE)
Start Up Catering & Facilities Management Firm

Our client is a startup enterprise in the field of industrial catering and facilities management and will be based in Ras Al Khaimah servicing the UAE market. As a subsidiary of a major international conglomerate of companies from Saudi Arabia, this newly created firm will be responsible to establish a new catering business in the UAE market that will cater food for breakfast, lunch and dinner to staff of industrial and construction companies located in Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai.

The firm has secured a number of key accounts and will focus on the business phases of establishment, development and management. A commercial kitchen of 600 m2 has been secured leveraging qualified culinary skill with industry insight.

The key objectives of this role are to:
- Manage the overall operation of a startup catering facility from running the kitchen to client liaison.
- Manage client relations and maintenance of employee and vendor relations.
- Develop, with the senior management team, an appropriate menu including menu selection, ingredient listing and pricing.
- Manage daily operations including scheduling and staff training.
- Order food for the kitchen including vendor liaison and service management.

Reporting to the Board and CEO and as a key member of the leadership team, this role is responsible for the following:
- Leadership, recruitment and performance management of the firm comprising 50+ people.
- Coordination and overseeing of internal and external catering service for customers’ canteens and events.
- Resourcing and scheduling of all staff including temporary staff.
- Pricing of contracts, business development and marketing.
- Ensure successful operation of catering functions including labor costs, food cost control and preparation, transportation, setup, operation and clean up.
- Menu development as well as booking, selecting and costing of menu items.
- Management of all catering activities, bookings and plans.
- Reporting of operating statements, reports and operational budgets.
- Review of receivable collections.
- Development of policies, and procedures.

Requirements

- A Bachelor of Science in Hospitality or a Culinary Degree is required with a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in the hospitality industry.
- Candidates must also possess 2 years in catering and facility management in the GCC region.
- Team building and development experience is essential.
- The ability to run an operation cost effectively and profitably is required.
- The leader we seek will possess an excellent working knowledge of HACCP food safety in a hospital contract catering environment.
- The ability to supervise food preparation and service is required and candidates must also possess exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Fluency in English is essential.
