Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The General Manager will report into the CEO, you will have full P&L responsibility for the Hotel. You will be fully responsible for all operational and strategic management of the business.

The General Manager is responsible to manage property operations on a day to day basis of a single property to assure optimum performance and continual improvement in the five Key Result Areas (guest service, employees, sales/marketing, property appearance, and profit/financial control. Coordinates, directs and manages the staff and everyday hotel operations to achieve profitability, guest satisfaction and efficiency while maintaining standards set by the company assuring 100% guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Pre Opening & Launch:
- Establish pre-opening budgets to manage overheads and costs
- Responsible for building a successful pre opening team & pre opening strategies
- Creating SOP’s and implementing them
- To oversee the pre opening activities and coordinate with company executives, owners and contractors alike.
- Ability to read construction design plans and contribute to Value engineering as per Design guidelines.
- Develop recruitment and training strategy including strategic talent management and succession planning
- Align operational objectives with core direction and strategy from the Owners.
- Manage property resources and risks
- Management Company’s Representative coordinating all of the pre-opening activities on hotel and coordinates with the construction team, the construction timeline and act as a liaison between hotel personnel, construction contractors and ensure value engineering in regards to construction.
- Assisting overseeing and managing all on site activities at hotel properties, including scope development, identifying and managing designers, as well as consultants, and contractors.
- Ensuring the Hotel is in compliance set by the local authorities.
- Project management including research of equipment, materials, supplies and methods, sourcing and negotiating qualified Supplier or contractors' bids, reviewing contracts, and quality control during all stages of the project.
- Develop long and short range plans for the operation of the campus. Ensure the plans, once approved, are properly executed. Ensure operational standards are communicated, trained, and maintained
- Assist and coordinate timely budget and forecasts regarding, but not limited to business levels, financial requirements, personnel needs and organization plans needed to support the resort operations
- Launching the hotel, including both soft and hard openings, and including direct involvement in sales and marketing activities during the opening phases

Post Opening:
- After the hotel’s launch, the GM will be involved in stabilizing the hotel and ensuring that stabilized operations run efficiently and maximize both customer satisfaction and resort profits.

Post-opening responsibilities include:
- Overseeing and managing all departments, working closely with department heads on a daily basis
- Monitoring customer satisfaction, through review of standardized feedback forms, and just as importantly by spending time directly with the guests and ensuring their needs are being met and expectations exceeded
- Assisting in residential sales as required to development with strong sales prospects
- Maximizing room yield and resort revenue through innovative sales practices and yield management programs
- Establishing annual and quarterly budgets and revenue projections, with regular updating
- Create a positive work environment in line with company’s values, vision and mission to produce a dynamic, driven, motivated and results-orientated workforce
- Planning and organizing accommodation, catering and other hotel services;
- Promoting and marketing the business
- Managing budgets and financial plans as well as controlling expenditure;
- Maintaining statistical and financial records;
- Setting and achieving sales and profit targets
- Analyzing sales figures and devising marketing and revenue management strategies;
- Recruiting, training and monitoring staff;
- Planning work schedules for individuals and teams;
- Supervising maintenance, supplies, renovations and furnishings;
- Participates and monitors monthly inventory of supplies and equipment. Ensures purchases made are within budget and by approved vendors.
- Ensuring security is effective;
- Carrying out inspections of property and services;
- Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations.
- Executes marketing, sales, and operational activities, producing results that meet or exceed the hotel’s business plan.
- Manage all financial, budgetary and P&L responsibilities through effective forecasting and contingency planning to maximize revenue and shareholder returns
- Develop and maintain a capable and cohesive Executive Team through effective leadership and mentoring

Requirements

- Currently working as a GM in the Middle East
- 5 – 10 years experience as General Manager including experience with leading 5* international hotel chains
- In-depth understanding of Middle East market and culture and hands on experience with pre-opening in Middle East
- Strong business and financial acumen with extensive experience managing multiple budgets and P&L’s, forecasting and managing pre opening and marketing budgets
- Outstanding leadership skills with experience managing Executive Leadership Team
- Experience with high end and fine dining F&B outlets
- Excellent English communication skills.
- International Hotel Management graduate, preferably MBA or equivalent
