General Manager - Tools

Our Client is a leading manufacturer and global supplier of hand tools

Originating from Europe they pride themselves as a preferred brand in Construction, HVAC, Auto industries as well as for domestic purposes

A 4th generation family owned company dating back to the 18.00s, the company has a presence in almost every country on every continent

We are seeking a General Manager to take over operations and be the face of the company for the assigned region which includes the Middle East, India, South and Central Africa

This role reports to the Director of International Sales based in Europe, and encompasses a combination of Sales, Business Development and Client Relationship Management

Key responsibilities of the role are as follows:
- Sales & Marketing functions for the GCC, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, India, South and Central Africa etc.
- Speaker of the board of directors (two General Manager functions, 2nd is Finance, Administration, Logistics)
- Analyse and research the market place for specific product categories
- Develop and provide data on markets, customers and competitors in the respective region
- Develop a suitable sales strategy to broaden the current market share
- Further increase sales turnover in line with the company’s strategy
- Coordinate and develop existing distributers and wholesalers
- Provide product knowledge and training programs on new products to distributors - (Retailers / Distributor sales force)
- Develop and assist with new product launching campaigns
- Be the brand ambassador of the company
- Support of distributors ´sales organisation (sales force, account management)
- Coordinate promotions, advertising campaigns, product launches with customers.
- Coordinate of trade fairs / shows
- Joint trips with Senior Management involving major accounts
- Quarterly trips to company Headquarters

Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business Administration
- Specific commercial and industry experience is essential
- Commercially aware, excellent understanding of P & L and margins
- Posses a firm understanding of the tool industry
- Strong presentation skills
- Extensive market knowledge, ideally from within 1 or more of the following:
- Tool merchants, Industrial B 2 B, Builders merchants, Electrical wholesale, Sanitary wholesale, Hardware shops, Mail order companies, Agricultural wholesale, Electronics-specialized wholesale.
- Possess excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to work autonomously and to deadlines
- Excellent communication in English
- Possess excellent skills in MS Office
- Ability to travel frequently within the assigned regions
