The Role

Data is at the centre of our way of operating. Data provides us the ability make data-driven decisions, define KPIs and tailor our user experience.

The Head of Business Intelligence is responsible for leading a team of tech/ data engineers overseeing the design, development and maintenance of the company's business intelligence architecture, technology stack and data processes.

Lead and drive initiatives amongst the BI team
Drive data strategy and architecture with the global BI counterparts
Design, implement and support data warehousing in the MEA region
The head of BI will lead their team and works closely with analyst and product teams. The role will also require collaboration across various departments.

Technical knowledge:

Understand the business processes, data entries, data producers and data dependencies
Understand the corporate systems, data environments and reporting tools
Ability to use and support database applications and tools for extraction, transformation and analysis of raw data
Extensive working knowledge of SQL scripting for relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL
Working knowledge of Amazon AWS ecosystem and big data technologies
Understands cloud computing principles
Linux/ Bash scripting proficiency
Ability to write Python scripts to complete ETL-related tasks
Knowledge and ability to use Pentaho for data integration
Knowledge of open source big data tools and databases (Hadoop, MapReduce, MongoDB, CouchDB) desirable
Practical understanding of different development methodologies including SDLC, Scrum, and/ or Agile, and test-driven development
Ability to design and develop exception handling and data cleansing/ standardisation procedures
Ability to create data flow diagrams and documentation processes
Knowledge on the creation and implementation of data quality safeguards
Ability to develop and program test scripts with the purpose of identifying and managing data inconsistencies and testing the ETL process

Requirements

- MSc in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems or a related field
- Previous experience managing a technology team in a multicultural environment
- 7+ years experience in the design and development of Enterprise Data Warehouse/ Business Intelligence systems
- Experience in data analysis and problem solving with large amounts of data
- Experience with data analysis, modelling and design specific to data warehouse
- Experience in data architecture, data warehousing, master data management, enterprise information intergration and ETL
- Experience with the design of large scale ETL solutions integrating multiples source systems
- Ability to mentor others and provide technical direction on data architecture, reporting and warehousing
