Head of Design

Job description / Role

Sim Leisure is a creative design and build company steadily growing in both our creative design and construction projects. To support this growth, we are looking for an ambitious individual to join our team as the Head of Design. The role of this team member will be to:

- Provide motivation and leadership to the current design team
- Assign tasks to design team
- Ensure design schedules are maintained
- Represent the company during client meetings and presentations
- Work with the Design Manager to optimize the design quality control system
- Final check/sign off of drawings prior to client submission
- Developing the design team, including arranging learning/training sessions
- Establishing best practices for the design team
- Work with Project Managers to agree and maintain schedules
- Work with other members of management to streamline the design process

Requirements

- Excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
- Knowledge of architecture, creative and structural design
- Attention to detail
- Ability to lead design projects from concept to completion
- Ability to supervise and develop employees
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with a multi-cultural team
- Experience with software including Autocad, Sketchup, Photoshop is necessary; Revit and 3DMax experience is preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to assign tasks and manage team members to achieve tight deadlines
- Previous experience managing a design team
