Job description / Role
Client, a leading regional bank is seeking an experienced Program Manager with extensive experience across a wide array of Technology, Change and Operational improvement projects. You will be responsible for driving the banks most mission critical programs and the position leads multi-disciplined project teams in performing all the activities which are needed for an effective project delivery.
In addition to completing the projects in time and within cost, the activities also include transitioning the projects to production and running them successfully for a specific time before handing over to production teams for the day-to-day management.
The role will require the candidate to provide leadership to the Project Managers / Business Analysts in ensuring the successful delivery of the IT, Change & Operational Improvement projects
Responsibilities:
- Oversee successful delivery of the complete portfolio of projects underway
- Managing the overall planning, execution and delivery of projects
- Cost and technical management of the portfolio of projects
- Vendor / contractor management for ensuring right resources are working on the projects
- Contracts management – completing the necessary contracts (product and implementation) for the projects with the vendors
- Compliance management (regulatory and institutional) including security aspects
- Managing project managers; motivating them and managing the risks to ensure that they successfully complete the projects.
- Track status of each project in a periodic basis and provide project related insights, status to the governance teams for reporting
- Managing project related issues and risks in a timely manner to the right stake-holders
- Ensure project milestones are met and determine mitigation if risk of not meeting milestones exist, much ahead in the project life-cycle and come out with alternates / mitigates for the risks so that they can be managed without impacting the project.
- Monitor the financial aspects of the projects by managing them within the budgets and ensuring no cost overruns.
- Plan and engage all the other operational stakeholders well in advance to ensure that any activities from their side are well planned in advance, Track the progress on these activities and ensure that these get completed by effectively interacting with them and by escalation if necessary.
- Manage the project stakeholders through effective and regular communication through status updates, top management presentations etc.
- Run the project governance for the key projects by conducting regular steering committee meetings and other business stakeholder meetings.
- Effectively manage the scope of the projects by ensuring strict change control mechanisms and by ensuring that such changes do not affect the project schedule
- Ensure along with the individual project managers, that the desired outcomes of the project are completely delivered. Along with the IT governance team, measure the value delivered by the portfolio of projects delivered
- Escalate project issues and risks as appropriate to leadership
- Facilitate appropriate handover of the projects to the operational teams and ensure that all change management processes are followed appropriately.
Requirements
- 12+ years of professional experience
- The ideal candidate will have a background within a Financial Services Consulting environment in companies like Accenture, Deloitte, PWC etc.
- Experience in a Retail banking environment in the capacity of a Program Manager or Projects head is highly desirable.
- They require a strategic out the box thinker with an innovative approach to problem solving
- PMP or Prince 2 certification is a plus
Salary on offer would be between $130k - $150k USD + Medical, tickets and bonus.
