Health and Safety Manager

Job description / Role

Provide health and safety support, guidance and information to ensure the continued growth, development and compliance of all company’s business entities.

The role covers multiple sites with a wide complexity of risks, candidates should be able to demonstrate their understanding and management of such diverse risks effectively

Key Tasks:
- To support the effective implementation of the organisations on-going health and safety strategy.
- To effectively drive incident reduction across all business units. This includes, developing and supporting new programs of improvement.
- To provide practical health and safety advice and support to managers and their subsequent teams.
- To ensure the organisations current health and safety management system remains compliant with BS OHSAS 18001 standard and local legal requirements.
- To conduct health and safety compliance audits across all business units across the MENA region and ensure adequate reports are provided to the H&s director.
- Support on the monitoring and management of non-compliance issues raised.
- To deliver health and safety training, including, IOSH, H&S awareness and other selected programs.
- Carry out construction health and safety inspections and ensure all construction projects are monitored throughout the duration of the project. This includes attending health and safety site meetings.
- To review construction phase plans and ensure adequate risk assessments, method statements, lifting pans etc are reviewed and approved prior to construction works commencing.
- Carry out incident investigations and ensure detailed reports are provided to the H&S director.
- To be able to develop detailed and compliant health and safety policies and procedures.
- Analysing statistical data to ensure key trends are identified and mitigated.
- Support on the development, implementation and on-going review of the crisis management plan.
- Manage the behavioural based safety teams across all business units and ensure the program remains active and engaging.
- Support all health and safety representatives and ensure an on-going development program is in place.
- Liaise with external stakeholders and build long lasting partnerships.

Requirements

- University degree or equivalent in a technical discipline very welcome
- Diploma/ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. (NEBOSH) or equivalent
- At least five year experience in the management of health and safety, a solid understanding of construction and engineering aspects (mechanical & electrical) would be an advantage
- Has clear qualities in managing complex tasks and is able to work self-driven.
- Ideally experience in dealing with mechanical rides operations, yearly inspections etc.
- Outstanding communication skills to ensure division wide importance of Health and Safety.
