High School Science Teacher - 5-Month Maternity Cover

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design and facilitate relevant student-centred, standards-based, learning experiences
• Monitor student learning and make appropriate modifications to meet student needs
• Reflect with colleagues on learning evidence (data) to improve student outcomes
• Create a well-structured digital learning environment that empowers students to think, create, innovate, and collaborate
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student progress and attendance
• Engage parents and students in the learning process through consistent and meaningful communication
• Support students during Tutorial between 3:20 and 4:00 p.m. Sunday-Thursday
• Serve as an advisor within our pastoral care program to help personalize each student’s learning environment
• Engage with students beyond the classroom to extend learning experiences (coaching, organizing field trips, sponsorship of events, service learning projects etc.)
• Engage in collaborative planning sessions to help meet the goals of the department

Requirements

We are looking for a teacher who has preferably qualified in North America. This is a 5-month maternity cover position.

• Bachelor's Degree with a valid teaching certificate/license in a relevant content area
• Teaching experience in a standards-based, 1-to-1 digitally-rich environment (preferably in an international setting)
• Strong assessment practices in a standards-based environment
• Relevant IB and/or AP experience
• Knowledge of the Understanding by Design framework and research-based pedagogical practices in the relevant subject
