Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Coordinates the Infection Control Program by the formulation, implementation and monitoring of compliance to policies, involvement in staff education, as well as providing consultation to directorates, departments, branches, staff and patients.
- Maintains a comprehensive infection control program based on current guidelines and standards from CDC, WHO, HAAD, and EHSMS.
- Develops infection control Policies & procedures, forms, revision of existing program, policies and procedures on periodical basis or whenever needed.
- Reviews Staff health immunization for Hepatitis B and follow up with treatment as indicated in collaboration with occupational health and safety department. Give specific advice on infection control issues.
- Performs environmental rounds, internal inspections, audits and tracers for the compliance with infection control policies and procedures. Follow up with incident reports (OVR) and give advice for the corrective action.
- Performs Staff Orientation program and monthly infection control training.
- Performs surveillance activities and prepares appropriated statistical reports from collected data to identify and analyze trends of infection to improve practice and informs strategy. Environmental surveillance of the facility to evaluate staff compliance to infection control guidelines and initiate change as appropriate.
- Reviews, interprets and assists with the patient epidemiological data and discusses with the patient treating physician for the investigation, prevention and control of infection when indicated.
- Reviews monthly KPIs, and follow up with reports when indicated.
- Monitors staff compliance to hand hygiene practices.
- Collects, delivers and follows up on environmental swabbing and assists in the formulation of corrective action.
- Oversees the proper waste segregation activities across the hospital.
- Serves in other committees like EHSMS, FMS and collaborates with them for environmental safety and all infection control issues.
- Monthly educational training to CNIA staff.

Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree in Infection Control/ Nursing or a health care related field, Master’s degree preferred
- Certification Board of Infection Control
- 3 years’ experience in in an infection control role in a clinical setting
- High level of verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain solid working relationships
- High level of analytical and auditing skills
- Facilitation and presentation skills
- Extensive knowledge of microbiology, epidemiology, statistics, sterilization and disinfection, infectious diseases and antibiotic usage
