Our client is a major engineering consultancy with an excellent reputation throughout the Middle East. Due to continued growth, our client is looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to be part of the design team to complete the design of building services & district cooling plants for its projects. The engineer will be assigned to specific design tasks such as calculations, design drawings, preparation of specification and other design documents to deliver all project requirements for our clients at the set milestones and deadlines in all stages mainly design review, concept design, detailed design, shop drawings & tendering.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Perform building services design demand calculations and sizing as per international guides and standards. The services include water supply, drainage, storm, HVAC, fire-fighting, etc. (The engineer shall have general knowledge of the all services and be comfortable with the design process and calculation , however they will be assigned to the services which they are more specialized)
- Verify the design is complying with local codes and regulations. (e.g. Civil Defense, Water/Electricity Authorities, etc.) , project specifications & employer’s requirement.
- Perform equipment selections and sizing based on design values and calculations
- Perform software calculation and modeling e.g. heat load calculations, energy modeling, etc.
- Coordinate and follow-up with suppliers/manufactures to verify the availability of the equipment and obtain selections.
- Provide necessary design inputs to the BIM modeling and drafting teams and follow up the progress of the works during the design development.
- Guide the BIM/Drafting Teams for proper modeling, routing and coordination of the services at all design stages.
- Review design drawings for correctness. Confirm the constructability of the design and no clash of services.
- Assist the design team in development of standards, design procedures and manuals to increase efficiency and reduce reworks.
- Attend coordination meetings or workshops with our clients to discuss design issues and address client’s comments. This may include site visits.
- Follow design review & quality control procedures during the design development and submissions
- Prepare design submission packages by collecting deliverables from design & drafting team
- Maintain and improve professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, training courses, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Perform feasibility / comparison studies for project proposals or as requested by the client.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree of Mechanical Engineering from a reputable University
- Minimum 2 years of related design experience
- Proficiency in English
- Knowledge and proficiency in computer software applications Microsoft Office, AutoCAD
- Knowledge of Revit MEP , HAP, Energy Plus (Preferred)
