Job description / Role
Client is an International Architectural & Design Consultancy is looking for a qualified landscape architect to join their established urbanism team in Abu Dhabi. This individual should be a confident, talented and design-oriented self-starter, having the ability to work individually or as a member of a dynamic, motivated and passionate team.
Candidates should possess excellent time management skills and experience in managing & meeting tight deadlines. They should also offer a variety of the skills necessary to provide a full range of landscape design services in support of the efficient delivery of our on-going projects in the UAE and GCC region.
The Landscape Architect will coordinate on a day-to-day basis with our internal architecture, urban design and master planning teams on a wide range of project types and scales. Proven experience with space planning, construction materials and design detailing is a must, along with an exceptional understanding of sustainable design principles with particular regard to outdoor thermal comfort, arid-region plant materials and irrigation solutions. Preferred candidates will exhibit experience with large-scale landscape planning, and should be comfortable presenting to and liaising with our wider international team of designers and consultants.
Requirements
This individual should have approximately 5-7 years experience - preferably with a minimum of 2 years of this experience in the GCC region.
Candidates must be 100% computer literate and proficient, (Adobe CC, AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, and Microsoft Office etc.), with exceptional graphic design ability, communication and presentation skills. They should be capable of producing everything from high-quality presentations to construction drawings. Preference will also be given to candidates with strong hand graphics, design drawing skill and three- dimensional thinking.
While experience with Middle East landscape design and culture is advantageous, we are also looking for candidates who are able to translate their design experience into fresh and original ideas, that rise to meet the particular challenges of urban design and development in the GCC region.
Job responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and producing landscape designs from pre-concept to preparation of tender documents and construction drawings;
- Undertaking site analysis;
- Three dimensional design exploration;
- Space planning;
- Design development;
- Hand drawing & sketch design;
- Construction design detailing;
- Material selection & recommendation;
- Time management skills;
- Site supervision activities;
- Client presentation and communication
- Liaising with authorities for project review and approvals;
- Coordination of project deliverables with design team (engineering, environment, architecture, transport etc. as appropriate);
- Landscape planning;
- Feasibility studies; and
- Preparation of client proposals
