The Lead Data Analyst is a fully-participating member of a cross-functional team working autonomously on technology development and problem resolution in the Enterprise Data & Analytics space. The role involves the analysis aspects of sourcing and transforming data to ensure it delivers the insights required by Emirates Airlines and Emirates Group business stakeholders. It also involves some thought leadership to continuously improve the data analysis capability.

Job Outline:

- Understand business domains well (e.g. airline, passenger, pilot & crew, aircraft, HR, Finance). Work with product owners and business users to understand operational source system data and business transformation/data cleansing rules required to ensure that analytical solutions generate the insights required by the business. Lead efforts to identify source systems and high-level data transformation rules across data assets during the discovery phase of new initiatives. Operate with a data-driven mindset, helping the business generate those insights based on data, and assist with the development of meaningful business KPIs.
- Organize and lead efforts for the collection of data dictionaries and the creation of business glossaries. Maintain core data repositories as data sources and interfaces change over time.
- Define and maintain conceptual, logical, or physical data models and data interfaces for the analytical environment. Work with business users on access, and query patterns and ensuring that they effectively meet business expectations.
- Conduct complex data gap analysis and data profiling to analyze the availability and quality of incoming data and advise on any data cleansing rules, or issue resolution options in case of incidents (including analysis of potential data quality issues). Incorporate business transformation rules into solution designs or mapping documents to ensure solutions provide timely business value.
- The document proposed or modified data interfaces, including fit for data models, data flow timing, source-to-target mapping, uniqueness criteria, and data transformation rules including data validations and controls. Mentor more junior Data Analysts to do the same.
- Provide feedback on technical solutions to ensure they effectively meet the analytical requirements and expectations, are easily accessible and queryable, and provide timely business value.
- Implement and practice fit-for-purpose estimation techniques, to promote iterative delivery. Help the team in refining estimates during sprint planning, with optimal assumptions and inter-dependency understanding.
- Collaborate with the quality engineers to identify areas that need to be validated and ensure data exposed to business stakeholders satisfies their analytical needs.
- Partner with a Data Governance group to implement appropriate standards, methodologies, templates, and tools related to documenting and analyzing data assets. Support in the delivery of flexible, reusable, and well-maintained core data repositories.
- Keep current on evolving Emirates Airlines and Emirates Group data and analytics business knowledge domains to accurately assess the quality of the data, ensure business glossaries remain up-to-date, and drive quality and consistency across data and analytic solutions.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications:

- Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) In a relevant field such as Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering. Specialization or electives in a Data & Analytics field (e.g. Data Warehousing, Data Science, Business Intelligence) are nice to have.

Experiences:

- 5+ years in Data Analysis experience (Fewer years' experience will be considered for Masters degree holders)
- Minimum 5+ years conducting data analysis tasks (e.g. source system identification, data dictionary/metadata collection, data profiling, source-to-target mapping)
- Proven track record developing and maintaining data documentation artifacts in organizations of similar size and complexity within project deadlines
- Proven track record developing templates for organizing data analysis output
- Deep expertise in business transformation rules and understanding of data solution designs
- Experience building conceptual, logical, and physical data models
- Experience writing complex SQL queries to analyze data and provide results to business users or project team members
- Experience with building information designs for data-centric projects on two or more of the following (preferably within an airline industry): Data Warehouses, Big Data Environments for Analytics, Data API, Business Intelligence Solutions
- Exposure to data governance or business intelligence tools (e.g. Collibra, Snowflake, Microstrategy, Power BI) is a nice-to-have
- Airline industry experience strongly preferred (or expertise in a supporting function such as HR or Finance); needs to understand the business domains well to conduct data modeling and analysis activities.

- Self-starter and has a passion for exploring and learning new technologies, especially those in the Enterprise Data & Analytics space.

- Is accountable and displays a positive attitude.
