Synopsis

The Lead Planning Engineer reports to Manager Base Maintenance Tech Rep. and is responsible to ensure all maintenance activities are strategically planned within the given time frames as defined by the approved Aircraft Maintenance Program (AMP) and any other relevant publications for their designated fleet.

The Lead Planning Engineer responsibility is to deliver stable maintenance Plans.
The role is responsible for monitoring the execution of the maintenance tasks in accordance with the Approved Aircraft Maintenance Program (AMP), Modifications and Etihad Maintenance Policy.
The Lead Planning Engineer will assist, create and deliver an annual maintenance budget for the Manager CAMO Planning and be accountable for regularity compliance in the maintenance environment.

Accountabilities

- Ensure that all maintenance checks are performed as per the company approved AMP and any other relevant documentation, to ensure the integrity of the Operation and the Airworthiness of the aircraft across the fleet, by protecting the maintenance program and assisting with OTP and TOR targets.
- Maintains oversight of the daily operation, ensures KPls are met and data for their measurement are collected as required.
- Ensure that maximum attention is given to company On Time Performance program.
- Reviews the forecast for maintenance requirements of the fleet in accordance with the operational profile and liaises with the Planning Engineer to ensure that suitable maintenance slots are allocated whilst optimizing the operation of the aircraft.
- Carries out a daily maintenance forecast review to ensure all items showing on the forecast are managed accordingly and ensures all maintenance tasks are not showing overdue.
- Provide a first point of contact for Operational issues from MCC, Light and Heavy Maintenance OTP, or downtime extensions.
- Communicates with Heavy Maintenance and Etihad NOC to negotiate maintenance slots.
- Assigns tail allocation to flights schedule provided by network planning.
- Ensures all maintenance slot requirements are reviewed and available in Network schedule.
- Ensure that all ADs and SBs are allocated and embodied as per Fleet Management recommendations to the most efficient possible ground times as defined between Capacity Planning and Production Management.
- Attends daily maintenance buy-off meetings to ensure that the Operational requirements are being met.
- Attends the event meetings and ensures, planned maintenance is protected as far as possible while supporting the operation and ensure all tasks are implemented accordingly.
- Attend the Pre-Input meetings and ensure that all tasks are implemented accordingly.
- Attend the reliability board meetings and keep up to date with fleet relevant information's.
- Ensure that Quality lapses are investigated and remedied in accordance with company procedures.
- Review and improve the process and procedure to improve Fleet efficiency
- Ensures fleet KPls are maintained.
- Ensures that all work is accomplished in a safe manner and completed in accordance with processes and procedures.
- Familiar with, enforces and follows the procedures stipulated in Safety & Quality Management Manual (SQMM) and becomes an active participant in the workplace safety program.
- Provides supervision, mentoring and guidance to the Planning Engineers and the Planning Officer on behalf of the Manager CAMO Planning.
- Encourages colleagues and is actively involved in the promotion of a positive reporting culture, by reporting any unsafe acts, unsafe conditions or safety risk.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned to them by the Manager Base Maintenance Tech Rep. Deputise for the Manager Base Maintenance Tech Rep during his absence.

Requirements

Education & Experience

- Bachelor degree in the field of Aeronautical, Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic Engineering with a minimum 3 years job-related experience OR Diploma/Aircraft License with at least 7 years of experience in aviation maintenance.
- Aircraft technical training (Gen tam course is acceptable) on at least of the Etihad aircraft types.
- Excellent standard of computer literacy (Microsoft Office applications)
- Proven track record of success in delivering results.
- Excellent all-round Planning and Operational and Crisis management and Time management skill
- Excellent knowledge of engineering standards appropriate for an International airline and Aviation regulations (e.g. JAA, EASA, FAA and/or UAE GCAA)
- Excellent standard of English language, Interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent people skills and ability to expedite tasks in a firm and diplomatic manner, being able to exercise appropriate discretion/manage commercially sensitive data
