Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The experienced legal counsel will have extensive knowledge in all areas of laws pertaining to the role especially anti-trust, anti-corruption, intellectual property, food and marketing laws along with and advanced level of legal developments in the Middle East and relevant area.

Litigation
- Responsible for a diverse range of litigation matters in the market.
- Attend court cases as a representative of the company and/or as a witness.
- Review and/or draft pleadings and memorandums.
- Oversee litigation and administrative proceedings in person or with the assistance of an outside counsel.
- Collaborate with outside counsel to follow up cases and to efficiently resolve lawsuits.

Unfair competition (anti-trust)
- Advise the management and business units on the risk of non-compliance with anti-trust/unfair competition laws and/or practices.
- Provide specialized trainings on anti-trust to the operating companies in the Middle East market especially to the sales and marketing teams.

Intellectual property (IP)
- Full implementation of the Group’s IP policies (defend the Group’s position) to ensure that IP rights are well protected and enforced in the regions.
- Provide professional legal opinion regarding trademarks (TMs), designs, copyrights, domain names (DNs) to businesses’ management in the region.
- Clear new local TMs, Designs, Copyrights and DNs requests from the markets and take appropriate actions according to internal guidelines and procedures of the group and applicable laws and regulations of each country under responsibility.

Requirements

- Native Arabic speaker with excellent knowledge of the English language
- Minimum 6 years of experience in the Middle East region
- Bachelor in Law
- Experience in litigation, competition law “antitrust”, marketing and food law and intellectual property law
- Ability to draft legal documents in Arabic and English
- Good negotiator, ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Law practice in a law firm or in-house in a multinational company (ideally within FMCG) or a combination of both
