We are seeking a midlevel lawyer to join our ecommerce legal team and support our rapidly growing ecommerce business. The ecommerce legal team supports diverse, cross functional, and multijurisdictional initiatives across the TikTok ecommerce business in META (Middle East, Turkiye, and Africa). In this role, you will be expected to exercise sound judgement to effectively navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and operate within short turnaround times. Your proactive approach, coupled with a strong sense of ownership, energy, and enthusiasm, will be essential in quickly responding to the rapid scaling of our ecommerce business. As a lawyer supporting our rapidly expanding ecommerce business, you will play a pivotal role in advising on legal matters related to ecommerce, logistics, and operations in the UAE, KSA, and other META (Middle East, Turkey, and Africa) jurisdictions. You will leverage your expertise to navigate evolving local laws and regulations. With a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape, you will provide legal advice across a spectrum of logistics, commercial, regulatory, operations and product workstreams, engaging with various stakeholders across the business. Your involvement will extend to supporting diverse initiatives across crossfunctional and multijurisdictional teams, contributing to the success of TikTok's ecommerce expansion plans.
Responsibilities:
You will join a team that is dedicated to delivering excellent stakeholder service to achieve pragmatic solutions for the business. In doing so you will: Provide advice and guidance on a wide range of operational, regulatory, commercial and product counselling ecommerce matters, with a focus on consumer protection, B2B and B2C engagement, product compliance, advertising, influencer marketing, and intellectual property. Support the business in understanding and complying with legal and regulatory requirements when launching and operating new products, features, and initiatives in KSA, UAE and the METAP region more broadly. Contribute to the continuous improvement of TikTok ecommerce initiatives through review of consumer and business facing disclosures, policies, and terms and conditions, and support for feature development. Review, draft, negotiate, and advise on: commercial agreements relevant to digital and ecommerce platforms and logistics and warehousing contracts. Contribute to template development, process improvement and internal training, identifying and resolving opportunities to simplify workflows and reduce contractual friction. Work closely with international stakeholders in legal, privacy, and public policy, to deliver projects against short timeframes, setting appropriate priorities and managing legal risk.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Strong academic background, with legal qualifications to practice law in the US, UK, or another METAP jurisdiction. 5+ years of practice advising ecommerce or retail companies. Experience working with crossfunctional business stakeholders as inhouse counsel in an international organisation, with ecommerce experience preferred. Knowledge of laws as they apply to the retail sector, advertising, and ecommerce platforms. Experience advising on logistics and warehousing contracts and licensing would be preferred. Knowledge of legal frameworks relevant to logistics and transport sectors would be an advantage. Experience advising on platform liability, intellectual property, consumer protection, regulatory and compliance schemes visavis new technology and ecommerce products and customer/third party agreements.
Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of practice advising ecommerce or retail companies within the GCC would be preferred. Experience advising on logistics and warehousing contracts and licensing would be preferred. Knowledge of legal frameworks relevant to logistics and transport sectors would be an advantage.
