Employment: Full Time

A valued client specializing in business set up and formation is seeking to recruit a Legal Translator for their Dubai office.

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to have a considerable effect on the provision of the official translation and presentation of documents that are handled on behalf of the Government and by the general public.

This person will work alongside another translator and will assist the Legal Counsel. Candidates must have an MOJ stamp.

Responsibilities and activities will include:
- Translation of legislation and legal documents from Arabic to English and from English to Arabic including complex legislation, regulations, legal opinion, agreements, precedents and a wide range of other legal documents on behalf of the department;
- Translation of supporting documents such as websites, articles, newsletters, journals;

Requirements

- Experience in a law firm working within translation
- A degree in law or equivalent;
- Professional translation qualifications such as membership of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, or Diploma in Translation (DipTrans) or other equivalent professional qualification;

Competencies, skills and attributes:
- Excellent IT skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Word and other standard IT applications;
- Excellent command of formal Arabic and English, both written and spoken;
- A high level of understanding of modern Arabic and English expression in written text;
- Excellent knowledge of legal terminology in both Arabic and English;
- Ability to translate written and spoken text in clear, concise, fluent and smooth way to a professional standard which conveys as much as possible the meaning of the original text;
- Significant level of accuracy and attention to detail of language and grammar;
- Analytical thinking;
- Ability to plan, organise and to work under pressure to tight personal and departmental deadlines;
- Possession of a flexible approach to working alone, or as a member of a team;
- Commitment to outstanding service by the whole department;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communication at all levels;
