Manager - Compliance Control

Job description / Role

This role is responsible for performing the monitoring and testing included in the Compliance Reviews schedule across the business lines, as well as completing the steps to ensure accurate and complete tracking, reporting and validation of resolution of issues identified.
- Prepare Annual Compliance Monitoring Plan on a Risk Based Approach.
- Functions as Business Unit Coordinator to roll out the Operational Risk Framework for Group Compliance.
- Conduct control testing identified in RCSA as per ORM Policy
- Coordinate with respective units within Compliance group to identify KRIs.
- Report identified KRI on a monthly basis to ORM department.
- Coordinate with respective units within Compliance group to ensure all change in processes or new initiatives are adequately risk assessed before they are launched/go-live.
- Maintain & update Audit Corrective Action Plan (CAP) when findings are closed by the units.
- Consolidate a list of all control gaps sourced through Audit, Internal Reviews and ORM Framework components (RCSA, KRIs and Losses) and follow-up on the log of findings and action plans.
- Report operational loss events to RMD on a timely basis.
- Take ownership of Business Continuity Plan of Group Compliance Department.
- Work with ORM department to provide training and guidance to Group Compliance staff to create awareness about Operational Risk Management and framework components.

Requirements

- Ability to be a self-starter and work independently as well as part of a team
- Demonstrated leadership & facilitation skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical, influencing, diplomacy and resilience skills
- Ability to interact with all functions and levels including senior management
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
- Good understanding of banking processes and products
- Understanding of Basel II Accord and the framework of Internal Control or Operational Risk
- Background on regulatory environment (preferred)
- Good presentation skills will be an added advantage
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in similar position in a bank. Experience in conducting Internal Audits will be an added advantage.
