Manager, Faculty Engagement

Job description / Role

A leading oil & gas institute in Abu Dhabi is actively hiring highly qualified professionals having in-depth understanding of research and funding opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of AVP, develops and executes a clear plan for faculty engagement at the Institute, including development of lines of communication among faculty and research leadership at the Organization, as well as ongoing, reciprocal relationships with the local and international scientific community and with the Subject Matter Experts (SME) of its client’s GoC’s.
- Act as R&D mentor for faculty and other appropriate R&D personnel and become familiar with scientific and engineering talent base within the Institute.
- Coordinates with AVP, appropriate officials, and department chairs, directors, and deans to identify, promote, and support RFP opportunities to ensure high quality submissions.
- Work with Director, the Institute’s Operation and Development to optimize teaming for proposals and to estimate timelines for research effort that are congruent with the Organization’s human resources and facilities.
- Develops, in conjunction with Director of Sponsored Research, training workshop series R&D topics including grantsmanship, intellectual property and technology transfer, and responsible conduct of research.
- Communicates and coordinates with Research Impact Officer to optimize collection of research outputs and to use these in leveraging additional proposals.
- Advises AVP and Dean of Graduate School, and Department Chairs on how to align graduate recruiting with research needs as anticipated by needs analysis based on submitted and funded proposals.

Requirements

- Ph.D. or equivalent and educational/technical expertise.
- Demonstrated understanding of research and funding opportunities.
- Experience working in areas applicable to applied and fundamental R&D in oil and gas industry, research organization affiliated with the oil and gas industry, or university R&D strategic initiatives.
- More than 10 years experience preferred.
- Experience with managerial role overseeing locally and externally sponsored research. More than 5 years experience preferred.
