Marine Superintendent

Job description / Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Superintendent specializing in Dredging to join our team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing the marine operations related to dredging projects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and optimizing the efficiency and performance of the dredging operations.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the marine operations related to dredging projects, including but not limited to dredgers, support vessels, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards and regulations.
- Optimize the efficiency and performance of the dredging operations, including monitoring dredging progress, production rates, and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective dredging plans and strategies.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the marine crew and ensure proper training and development programs are in place.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of dredging equipment and vessels to ensure proper maintenance and seaworthiness.
- Manage budgets, costs, and resources related to marine operations, and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Participate in tender processes and provide technical expertise and input for dredging project proposals.

Requirements

- Proven experience as a Marine Superintendent with a focus on dredging operations.
- In-depth knowledge of dredging equipment, techniques, and best practices.
- Strong understanding of safety and environmental regulations related to marine operations.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound decisions in challenging situations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing operational challenges.
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in marine engineering, naval architecture, or a related field.
- Experience working in the UAE or the Middle East region would be an advantage.
