Employment: Full Time

Atkins has been established in the Gulf for over 40 years, having first carried out design and supervision commissions in the Gulf area in 1967. The regional head office (Dubai) was established in 1979.

We provide a full range of design, engineering and project management services for buildings, transportation and other infrastructure programmes

Atkins in the Middle East now employs around 2,000 staff serving Gulf clients across all market sectors from offices in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait City, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah.

As part of our regional growth plans, we are currently looking for an experienced Inspector Materials.

Inspector Materials will be responsible for monitoring of the contractor’s site in accordance with the contract and maintaining standards of delivery including quality, health and safety in accordance with QCS 2010 and Atkins Quality Systems. The Inspector Materials will be responsible for interface with the contractor and work closely with other members of the site supervision team to ensure the site operates efficiently and effectively.

The Inspector Materials will also be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Atkins reputation with our clients and developing effective long term client relationships thus identifying and developing new opportunities for the Group.

The Inspector (Materials) will:
- Report to the Senior Materials Engineer
- Keep daily records
- Carry out daily inspections of the works and sign off the relevant part of the contractor’s RFI’s in a timely manner.
- Raise any non conformances or poor workmanship with the Senior Materials Engineer in a timely manner
- Raise any safety issues with the Safety officer, keeping the Senior Materials Engineer informed.
- Inspection, sampling and testing of materials to assure compliance with the contract specifications.

Requirements

The Inspector Materials will be a qualified professional who must have a minimum qualification of a Technical Diploma or equivalent with more than five years experience with three years being similar to this project/role. Local experience is required. The Inspector (Materials) must possess the ability to read working drawings and related specifications, and capable of enforcing such specifications. Computer literacy and excellent communication skills is essential.

Atkins have been awarded a major infrastructure commission focusing on improving highways, drainage the urban environment for the community. Under our commission, our client, Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal), has tasked Atkins over the next 5 years with improving with infrastructure for the Doha West Area with a population of approx. 500,000 people and including some of Qatar’s highest profile localities.
