Medical Director / Chief Medical Staff

Job description / Role

- Oversees, reviews,analysis and evaluate patient care in the hospital by working with medical staff committees as they carry out their respective functions under the bylaws, rules and regulations for the medical staff according to policies and procedures of the hospital.
- Maintain the permanent file of medical staff applications , oversee the processing of a new applications and provide direction to the credentials and other medical committees when requested to assure compliance with medical bylaws, policies, procedures, accreditations, insurance and regulators requests.
- Participate in long-range planning activities, especially overseeing the development of new patient care programs in cooperation with medical staff. She shall study the pattern of medical care being delivered within the institution and identify and implement necessary changes to improve patient care and services as they relate to the medical staff.
- Coordinate the activities of physician clinical departments with each other and with non-clinical departments through their appropriate directors and managers to improve the quality of patient care rendered in the hospital.
- Aid and assist the medical staff to be effectively organized for self-government with adequate bylaws, rules, and regulations; effective functioning committees and well-planned well-attended meetings as prescribed by such bylaws, rules and regulations.
- Participate in the budgetary activities, coordinating budget submissions for the medical staff and evaluating performance against budget.
- Be responsible for physician educational activities of the hospital under the approved policies and within the stated objectives of the hospital and accordance with the bylaws of the medical staff.
- In collaboration with the CNO and Director of Quality, directs all efforts of the hospital to meet or exceed standards of JCI accrediting and approving bodies.
- Assist with recruitment and retention of physicians.
- Actively participate and promote the hospital’s quality and patient satisfaction programs.
- Collaborates with other practitioners and disciplines to provide appropriate surveillance and treatment, including chart reviews.
- Educates and advises on medical issues as needed.
- Performs a walkthrough of the facilities, analyzing the environment of care on a quarterly basis.

- Plans, develops,implements, manages and evaluates patient care education and programs in collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer.
- Chairs Medical staff
- Executive Committee on a Weekly basis.
- Develops and/or maintains and audits physician job performance to ensure continuity of care,confidentiality, and feedback to the Executive Team and CEO, in compliance with the Hospital policy and applicable Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

Requirements

- Medical Director/Chief Medical Staff with proven record as such preferably in a JCI accredited hospital .
- Western qualified is a must: USA Board, Canadian Board, or UK CCT.
- Age below 55 years.
- Preferably with MOH license or in the process.
