Metallurgy and Corrosion Engineer

Job description / Role

Metallurgical Engineer will be Abu Dhabi based. In general, the work performed shall include, but not limited to tile following:
- Provides technical expertise in Metallurgy with the objective of providing solutions for various issues related to the use of metallic materials in production plant and equipment, including "Selection of Materials, Material Inspection, Reviewing Materials Submissions, Plant Failure Investigations, Repairs Procedures and Writing Material Specifications".
- Reviews materials submissions by product suppliers to evaluate and ensure compliance with technical specification.
- Investigates service failures of plant and equipment and makes suitable metallurgical recommendations for remedial actions.
- Coordinates and supervises laboratory work (materials testing and investigation) performed by local independent testing laboratories.
- Provides recommendations on materials and metallurgical repair or replacement' techniques, during scheduled/unscheduled shutdowns and overhauls.
- Carry out routine inspection and material reliability studies.
- Audits existing installations viz. pipe-work and structures, to determine their suitability for current/future services through Fitness for Service (FFS) studies.
- Participates in incidents/accidents investigations, near miss reports etc. and recommends remedial measures to avoid re-occurrence.

Requirements

Metallurgical Engineer should possess a B.Sc. in Metallurgy (or equivalent) with knowledge of basic NDT Techniques viz. UT, RT. MT and PT.

He should have 7 years of experience in metallurgy/inspection out of which a minimum of 3 years should be in Oil & Gas or related industry in supervisory/responsible technical capacity.

He should be conversant with the Windows Environment using MS Office applications. He should possess a very good knowledge of English.

Possession of a UAE Driving License is an added advantage.
