Occupational Health Specialist

Job description / Role

PURPOSE: To assist in the development of the COMPANY Occupational Health Management System and to provide support for it’s implementation.

The Occupational Health Specialist reports to the Senior Occupational Health Specialist. The Senior Occupational Health Specialist reports to the HSE Division Manager along with a Senior HSE Advisor, Senior HSE Engineers, HSE Engineers, a Senior Safety Engineer, a Senior Environmental Engineer, Environmental Engineers and Senior HSE Engineers (Projects).

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
- To assist in the provision of guidance, advice, assistance and independent technical expertise on all aspects of Occupational Health Management to achieve the Occupational Health goals and objectives of the Company.
- To assist in the development of the Occupational Health Management System and, through line management, to support its implementation.
- To assist in the development and support the implementation of Occupational Health Programs for the protection of Occupational Health and to minimize the risk of physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic and psychosocial health hazards to employees and contractors.
- To support and advise all COMPANY Divisions in the identification of health hazards, evaluation of risks, and the development of controls to manage these risks to an acceptable level.
- To assist in the development and support the implementation of health surveillance and biological monitoring programs for those employees who are exposed to health risks.
- To maintain a Record Keeping System for health surveillance and biological monitoring programs.
- To support the implementation of COMPANY Codes of Practice on Occupational Health.
- To assist in the establishment of COMPANY Standards and Procedures for the management of Occupational Health and to ensure compliance by periodic audits and inspections.
- To provide guidance, advice and support to all COMPANY Divisions for the implementation of COMPANY Codes of Practice and COMPANY Standards and Procedures for the management of Occupational Health.
- To assist in the development and support the implementation of Industrial Hygiene Programs for all COMPANY Divisions.
- To assist in the establishment, monitoring, reporting and analysis of Health Performance Indicators and identify opportunities for continuous performance improvement.
- To investigate Occupational Health related incidents and to develop remedial actions to reduce health risks.
- To support the management of Occupational Health audits of Company operations and facilities, to ensure that audits are completed on schedule and that resultant action plans are implemented.
- To support actions to ensure that Contractors manage occupational health in accordance with Company requirements.
- To represent COMPANY in various occupational health forums with COMPANY (e.g. COMPANY Occupational Health Technical Committee), other Group Companies and third party representatives as directed.

Requirements

Bachelor degree in Public, occupational health, medicine or an equivalent professional qualification with minimum 10 years experience in occupational health at least 5 years in Oil and Gas industry.

Arabic Speaking professional preferred.
