Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Performance of routine and non-routine internal audits, investigations, procedures/ policies review and administrative assignments and evaluation and reporting the audit results, under the supervision of Senior Manager Audit (Operations).

The incumbent may be called upon to work alone or as a member of a team, undertaking fieldwork in the context of internal audit examinations of the bank diversified activities and operations. Work will be performed under supervision, to departmental standards and within agreed time frames.

Outputs are represented by audit work papers, detailing tests performed, results and conclusions in relation to adequacy and effectiveness of controls of specific areas under examination. Audit findings will be evidenced by audit points and summaries.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists in the planning of individual audit assignments, to conduct the audit efficiently and to address the major risks of the auditable activity.
- Participates in the performance of individual audit assignments to achieve the planned audit objectives.
- Assists in the implementation of the department's Quality Assurance Program to ensure that the department is functioning at a high level of efficiency and effectiveness.
- Maintains positive and professional relationships with auditees to audit works & objectives are completed effectively and efficiently.
- Provides input for the revision of audit programs / review approach to achieve specific objectives in more effective and efficient manner.
- Participates in the review of user related procedure/policies for improvement and sign off to ensure they provide for adequate and efficient internal controls.
- Keeps informed about improvements and current developments in banking environment, and in internal auditing & risk management standards, procedures, and techniques. Assists less experienced and new staff in assimilating the Internal Audit environment.
- Perform any other duties or responsibilities consistent with the role as assigned by management.

Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree in any discipline. Diploma in Banking or equivalent qualification is an added advantage.
- Internationally recognized accounting / auditing qualifications like CA, CPA, CIA
- Minimum 3 to 5 years' auditing experience in the financial sector, with preferably one year in a bank.
- Knowledge of current auditing practices
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Analysis and planning skills
- Negotiation and convincing skills
- Organizing skills
- Interpersonal / communication skills
