Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The main purpose of the position is to be able to operate and maintain Multi Mode Journey Planner system at Department Of Transport in Abu Dhabi . The operator staff will be responsible for administering, configuring, troubleshooting and operating the system covering a period of 36 months from the date of handover.

Key Job Responsibilities:
- Manning the Journey Planner operator workstation in the operations control room in Abu Dhabi TMC on a day to day basis to ensure correct operations and reporting any faults / failures to the maintenance team.
- Review, verification and confirmation of incidents as well as incident clearance from the road, and appropriate data input into Journey Planner operator workstation
- Verification of rerouting advisories based on road work, accidents, and closures as obtained from Police, along with transitioning and ending such advisories at the appropriate time, including appropriate data input into Journey Planner workstation.
- Availability to handle special event situations (Formula 1, concerts, etc.) which may occur after normal operating hours.
- Production of electronic daily, weekly and monthly traffic reports following an agreed-upon format with Department of Transport, for the purposes of performance monitoring and management activities.
- Management of traffic database and archiving of data, along with storage of aged data for planning access.
- Contractor staff will be available as needed to provide regular training on system operations, software and hardware, data archiving, and configuration.

Operator shall be available for:
- 16-hour daily periods (Saturday to Thursday 0600-2200)
- 8-hour periods on Fridays (1400-2200) during the 36 months O&M period.

Requirements

- Diploma in Computer Technology or equivalent
- A minimum 2 to 4 years of experience and good understanding of the ICT projects preferably in the Intelligent Transportation System domain.

Knowledge & Skills
- Operate and maintain day to day activities at site
- Coordination with stake holders to handle events
- Theoretical and practical understating of functional area of subject
- Should be able to recognize first level technical problems
- Basic knowledge of oracle database managements
- Able to work independently under stringent deadlines and pressure environment
- Flexibility, excellent attention to details, ability to identify key issues and mange an environment of regular change
- Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and in speaking and convey complex information in an easily understood format
