Employment: Full Time

The Optician is trained to measure, fit, and adapt lenses and frames for client according to written optical prescription or specification by optometrists and ophthalmologists.

Opticians advise patients on various types of lenses and spectacle frames, including advice on style, weight and colour.

Reporting to: Sales & Accounts Manager

Your main tasks will be:
- Interpreting optical prescriptions written by optometrists or ophthalmologists;
- Measure clients’ bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centres of eyes, using measuring devices.
- Giving advice to patients on lens type, frames and styling
- With further training, fitting contact lenses and giving advice on their care and use
- Taking frame and facial measurements to ensure correct fit and positioning;
- Assisting patients when adjustments or repairs to spectacles are needed;
- Adjust eyeglasses to fit clients, using optometric tools;
- Cutting and edging lenses, then fitting the lenses into frames;
- Repairing damaged frames.
- Selecting, managing and ordering a range of optical products;
- Ordering lenses from prescription houses;
- Checking lenses on delivery to ensure that they meet the required specifications;
- Perform administrative duties such as tracking inventory and sales, submitting patient insurance information, and performing simple bookkeeping.
- Arranging and maintaining shop displays
- Acting as brand ambassador, and ensuring the brand image is executed to international standards.

Requirements

- 5+ years experience as Optician along with DHA license is a must for the role
- The role requires extensive use of technical expertise and good customer service skills. Selling is an important part of the job.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills in building relationships and effectively closing the deal for a win-win outcome
- Good command of English is essential for the role. Russian or French is a plus.
- Social media understanding is important for the role.
- Good knowledge of suppliers in the UAE is key for the role.
