Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

This position is responsible for the staff supervision and production of a wide range of baked goods for airlines, retail, events and banquets. With focus on quality and production levels, the Pastry Chef will lead the pastry team on their mission to exceed customers’ expectations related to food quality and dining experience.

Essential Functions:

• Bake pastry items as assigned as well as have ability to produce all items, which the pastry staff is responsible for
• Provides planning and direction for the pastry team to fulfill requisitions and orders in a timely manner
• Select, train, schedule, supervise, motivate, and counsel employees according to policies and procedures
• Create menu changes seasonally and as needed
• Consistently practice safe and sanitary food handling techniques
• Maintain workstation and equipment safety and cleanliness
• Inventory items as assigned and maintain records as needed

Requirements

• Degree in Culinary Art or equivalent professional qualification.
• Health and safety and food hygiene certificates / HACCP.
• Minimum Previous experience of 5 years of in a similar position in airline catering, hotels, restaurants or any other food industry field.
• Ability to cope under pressure, in a calm and efficient manner to set deadlines.
• Previous experience demonstrating good management and effective co-ordination of a kitchen team.
• Good interpersonal skills with both kitchen, front of house staff and management.
• A positive approach to menu planning and development of the catering service.
• Stock taking experience.
• Willing to work flexible hours as regular weekends, Holidays and evening work is required.
