Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Client is a well known aluminium facility based in the GCC, is recruiting for a Plant Engineer who is able to direct and control the routine activities of the mechanical maintenance department and the utilities department.

The role and responsibilities for this position involve the following (but not limited to):
- Initiates the manufacture of spare parts producing workshop drawings for modified or new design spares
- Discusses and delegates work to Mechanical Section Supervisor and Utilities Section Supervisor.
- Directs Section Supervisor to carry out planned maintenance, breakdown repairs and non urgent repairs.
- Reviews shift reports, checks work progress and follows up through actions.
- Assists to resolve technical problems and initiates design changes where required.
- Actively participates in fault diagnosis and co-ordinates repair activities through direct supervision.
- Performs on-the-job training and nominates candidates for off-job training
- Carries out administrative functions including shift schedules, vacation scheduling, performance assessments, etc.
- Authorises the issue of gate passes for Mechanical equipment for outside repair.
- The prospective candidate will be required to perform their duties applying the standard company and Country safety guidelines and with due regard for the safety of their co-workers.
- Carries out any other related work as assigned by supervisor.
- Majority of the day to day decision making will be made by the prospective candidate whereas problem solving on major issues shall be made in coordination with the Chief Mechanical Engineer and Engineering Manager.

Requirements

- Degree qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering (5 years academic education).
- At least 5 years experience in mechanical engineering in heavy industry.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of practical engineering, fitting, machining, fabrication, welding, pneumatics, hydraulics, FLTs and OHCs.
- Ability to read, interpret and produce drawings and schematic diagrams.
- Strong leadership abilities and able to adhere to strict time deadlines.
- Excellent English communication and written skills.
