Job description / Role
Reports To: General Manager / Director of Operations
Job Purpose:
- Responsible for complete plant operations, production, technical support, supply chain and maintenance.
- To plan, organize and direct the manufacturing and maintenance operations which ensure the most effective return on assets and investment.
- Develop and manage effective support to supply chain functions in terms of helping in all functions related to materials management, providing data for required materials for the production, provide products on time as planned, help managing the stock levels to the minimum to increase effectiveness … etc.
Key Accountabilities:
Plant-General
- Oversee, manage and organize the daily operations of the manufacturing, maintenance, technical support and following quality measures.
- Oversee employees, production and efficiency of people and machines, to make sure the Plant is running smoothly, quickly, efficiently and safely.
- To direct, develop and create coordination between all plant operations within Company.
- Develop the Plant strategies and future plans.
- Maintain a clean and safe Plant work environment.
- Develop, implement and follow up all the policies and procedures related to the Plant functions.
- Proper Plant budget and P&L reports.
- Ensure strong coordination and flow of information among the production, maintenance, QC, R&D, design, lab, purchasing, and sales.
- To continuously work on cost saving measures and for new developments.
- Suggest new technological developments in the Plant to enhance production and quality.
- Manage the installation of equipment and systems within the manufacturing facility
- Initiate plans to minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and Capex.
- Work continuously on costing all the Plant elements and outputs to focus on highly cost areas for cost saving always.
- Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for problem solving, loss prevention and cost reduction.
- Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact based problem solving, results orientation.
- Establish synergistic links on a scientific base between the Production, the Technical and the Quality functions to the best of the production and the quality performance.
Manufacturing:
- Develop and execute effective manufacturing strategic plans and aligning it with general plant strategy.
- Manage to improve manufacturing processes and ensure establishment of strong quality measures to improve the manufacturing strategy.
- Introduce new initiative plans and processes to minimize general manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and invested capital.
- Managing work priorities and allocating resources to meet the assigned factory time-lines and goals and to assure attainment of business objectives and productions schedules while insuring product standards that will exceed our set standards.
- To discuss with department heads to ensure coordination of production, maintenance, QC, design, lab, purchasing, and sales.
Production & Quality
- Plan and achieve production targets with the required quality standards.
- Ensure proper allocation of all resources to achieve production and quality targets.
- Planning production meetings, worker schedules, production activities, machine maintenance plans and maintaining product quality and budgets.
- Ensure proper production planning that takes in consideration the production mix, manpower requirements and meet quality standards.
- Ensure that the production plan is set as per the sales and delivery schedules to meet clients and customers requirements.
- Provide technical support to the production to root solving common production problems.
- Create a strong coordination between the Production, R&D, Quality and Design to provide very high quality solutions and introduce new products according to the market needs.
- Reduce production stop times to the minimum by providing better production solutions that suits the situation of the factory, manufacturing process and the product.
Maintenance:
- Ensure proper planning of all preventive and corrective maintenance activities in the Plant.
- Ensure proper allocation of maintenance resources for better performance of the production and manufacturing process.
- On time reacting to all mechanical, electrical, and automation failures and make sure that all actions has been taken to prevent any wastes.
- Staff the maintenance department with the adequate and competent technical team to effectively enhance the maintenance performance in the Plant.
- Plan to reduce time failures to the minimum to prevent any time losses, products losses or quality losses and ensure continuous operations of the Plant as expected
- Make sure that all maintenance consumables and spare parts are always available and in stock.
People
- Preparing effective manpower plans and to ensure availability of work force at required time and the planned cost, for all functions under the Plant.
- Ability to study and formulate a suitable structure for the company. And establish plans to bring the approved structure in to the practice.
- Participate in manpower selection, training and testing processes for all new and existing employees when and where needed.
- Train on-site in operations/quality/Systems
- Employees’ performance reviews.
Requirements
- Degree / Diploma in Ceramic Engineering or Chemical Engineering
- Minimum 10 Years of Experience
- Should have experience in Ceramics Industry
- Extensive knowledge in ceramic manufacturing.
