Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

A world-class leader in providing Systems Integration, Managed Solutions and Consultancy & Training services with more than 20 offices across 5 different continents.

THE ROLE
- The job requires an experienced managing consultant. A person who has been consulting in a technical environment for between 5 – 10 years, at least 3 years where he/she has managed consulting assignments of greater than $500K fee
- The individual should be able to plan consulting assignments in detail – schedules, costings, resource plans and bills of materials
- The individual must have experience in writing proposals and bids, and have an understanding of project finance, contracts and commercials

The individual must come from a background in Front End Engineering Design for security systems within either:
- The mainstream built environment
- Critical National Infrastructures or
- National Security

- The job will involve planning consulting assignments, developing project plans, managing the deployment of consulting resources. Further it will involve monitoring costs and burn rate of resources to fee & managing risk in consulting assignments
- Further the job will involve supporting the VP Consulting in the production of proposals and bids and also in ensuring projects go through the proper review and governance process

This role requires the individual to act as a lead consultant in supporting the ‘win business’ process. The consultant must therefore have a specific proven area of expertise in one of the following areas:
- Project and programme management
- Risk analysis and management (quantified risk management techniques)
- Cyber security
- Security engineering and design
- Counter terrorism engineering – blast, ballistics, CBRN
- Command & control, PSIM and systems integration

Requirements

- A masters degree in a relevant security or consulting discipline is desirable
- Secure by design process
- Working as part of multi-disciplinary design teams within the built environment and working to RIBA design stages

Providing threat based design guidance for security systems to clients covering:
- Physical protection systems (gates, barriers etc)
- Electronic systems (CCTV, Access Control etc)
- Command and control
- Systems integration
- Security operational procedures and emergency planning

- The candidate should have experience in producing detailed output specifications for security systems design
- The candidate should have experience in project managing multi-disciplinary teams within the technical security space
- The candidate should have experience in developing bills of materials for security systems
- The candidate should have experience in tender assessments and in providing contractor oversight
- The candidate should have experience in proposal writing and bid submissions

The candidate must be have the following skills:
- Be a formally qualified project manager
- Be experienced in use of proprietary project management tools (MS Project, Primavera etc)
- The candidate must be numerate and have good written and oral English
- It is desirable if the candidate has experience in AutoCAD

The candidate should be confident and work well within multi-disciplinary teams. In addition the candidate should be able to prove:
- The ability to plan unstructured problems and assignments from scratch
- The ability to present plans and proposals to clients
- The ability to run workshops and seminars with clients
- The ability to learn quickly and to work well under pressure
- The ability to listen attentively and express complex issues concisely to clients
- To show leadership and motivate teams

The following qualifications are desirable:
- Degree level qualified – top 25% percentile from an established university in the UK/US/Canada/Australia

Member of professional body that is relevant to the technical security environment (such as but not limited to):
- IEE
- CLAS
- CISSP
- APM
- ICE
- CPP
- PSP
- CIMC
- CEng
