Project Manager (Oil and Gas, Petrochemical Background)

Job description / Role

- Define the scope of the project in collaboration with senior management.
- Create a detailed work plan which identified and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
- Determine the resources (time, money, equipment) required to complete the project
- Develop a schedule for the project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities
- Review the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities, revise the schedule as required
- Contract qualified consultants to work on the project as appropriate
- Set up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured
- Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
- Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the project
- Review the quality of work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards
- Write reports on the project for management and for funders
- Communication with funders as outlined in funding agreements
- Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures
- Manage all project funds accordingly to established accounting policies and procedures
- Ensure that the project deliverable are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality
- Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase
- Monitor cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance to senior management on a regular basis
- Supervison of contractors can sometimes be problematical depending upon the calibre of the contractor used. On some occasions the project engineer is required to directly supervise contractors employees which may number 100. Contractors are also generally of a diverse mix of nationalities and language groups making communication sometimes difficult
- Coordination and management of projects requires extensive scheduling and advance planning capabilities to foresee and avoid delays. The Project Engineer shall demonstrate expert abilities in this area to assist all stakeholders in achieving or improving upon targets.

Requirements

- 15 Years experience managing oil and gas projects.
- The project manager oversees the planning, implementation, and tracking of QSSA project which has a beginning, an end and specified deliverable.
- Coordination and management of projects requires extensive interaction with Industrial city authorities and other companies within MIC to obtain approval to cross common boundaries.
- This often involve extensive negotiations and re tape
- You are required to supervise other engineers, contractors on most occasions and on some occasions may be called upon to supervise up to 100 contractor employees.
- You are authorized to commit expenditure in line with specific project capital approval.
