Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

As prime contractor, manage the safe delivery of new vessel design and build programs across Adecco’s shipbuilding client and its major national and international partners from contract award and initial design through to construction, testing, trials, delivery, acceptance and after sales support in order to ensure compliance with schedule, budget and quality standards as well as maintaining full customer satisfaction

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Human Capital Management
- Manage the effective achievement of objectives through setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing staff and providing formal and informal feedback in order to maximise overall performance and team motivation.

Budgets and Plans
- Contribute to the preparation of the program budget and monitor the financial performance of a given area versus the budget so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon.

Material Requirements
- Lead the estimation and forecasting of material requirements for programs in coordination with internal departments and material suppliers/vendors, and maintain proper management of material budgets in order to ensure that material is timely and cost-effectively supplied and used to meet the programs’ objectives

Contract Management
- Manage program contracts by providing input into Statement Of Work (SOW) and other Project Documents, managing change requests, identifying project risks and controlling the interface with customers, designers, subcontractors, suppliers and third parties involved in the contract period, and from delivery of the vessel to the end of the warranty period in order to ensure vessels are delivered in line with timeframes, costs, standards and requirements.

Project Planning
- Direct project planning activities and teams in order to ensure the timely and accurate development and monitoring of high-level and detailed schedules and plans for assigned programs.
- Ensuring that various project works, teams and resources are efficiently planned, integrated and organised to timely and accurately meet project requirements.

Project Management
- Oversee the execution of programs, monitor resources, material estimations and adherence to set timelines, budgets and quality standards in order to evaluate risks and prepare potential contingency plans.

Internal Collaboration
- Lead and manage ongoing coordination with internal departments and sections (e.g. Marketing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Planning, Quality, etc) in order to ensure the smooth flow of activities as per agreed standards, plans and objectives.

Project Completion
- Ensure quality approval checks are performed, including Factory Acceptance Tests, HAT and SAT in order to support the successful handover to the Customer in line with quality and safety standards as well as agreed requirements.
- On achieving of the project objectives direct and finalize the project closure process, material reconciliation, PO / contract closures, project lesson’s learned documents and archiving for future use of the Company

Continuous Improvement
- Motivate subordinates and identify opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account international leading practices, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
- Recommend improvements to departmental policy and manage the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.

Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment
- Ensure compliance to all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental management procedures and controls across the department to guarantee employee safety, compliance, delivery of high quality products/ service and a responsible environmental attitude.

Reports
- Prepare program status update reports in a timely and accurate manner to meet Adecco’s client’s policies and standards, and department requirements

Requirements

- Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, engineering or related technical field
- Master’s Degree desirable
- 10 years of relevant experience in the ship building industry, including at least 5 years in positions of managerial or supervisory responsibilities

Job-Specific Knowledge & Skills:
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications, drawings, contract documents, setting to work and test and trials procedures
- Knowledge of shipbuilding operations and ship systems
- Knowledge of military specifications
- Knowledge of strategic and tactical planning in naval ship construction and repair environment
- Shipbuild management skills
