MBC Group is the largest satellite TV and radio network based in Dubai Media City. It broadcasts a portfolio of Arabic and Western entertainment channels as well as managing the Al Arabiya news channel.
Brief Description The Group currently requires a Quality Assurance Specialist to work within the Content Metadata Department; based in our Jordan offices the successful candidate will focus on quality management and reporting on existing content metadata used on the various MBC platforms across TV, Web and VoD services improving both the consistency and authenticity of content metadata created, leading to an improved user experience. Detailed Description:
- Reporting QA tickets through the Incident ManagementSystem (IMS), assigning to author and ensuring all tickets are closed weekly
- Liaising regularly with authors and publishersthrough IMS, phone and email;
- Flagging linguistic errors; spelling mistakes and grammatical errors;
- Sub-editing text written by a number of authors to ensure consistent house style;
- Resolving queries directly with the author, e.g. editorial compliance and text inconsistencies;
- Ensuring publications are prepared with quality and on schedule;
- Maintaining awareness of new words or phrases in popular usage to ensure they're appropriate for the readership;
- Working to a style checklist to ensure consistency in hyphenation, capitalisation, continuity, authenticity of text;
- Creating content metadata specific reports and analytics
Requirements
A degree in the following subjects:
- Linguistics or Journalism
- Publishing or publishing studies
- Media or electronic media
Minimum four years’ experience as:
- Editorial assistant
- Proofreading Specialist
- Working on dual language editing texts (Ar/En/Ar)
- Translation (Ar/En/Ar)
Skills with:
- Content Management Systems
- MS Office
- Advanced Excel Skills
- Analytics (numeric)
- Visio
- Documentation (Ar/En/Ar)
- Reporting
- Technical skills are a key part of this career and need to be updated on an ongoing basis, particularly in response to developments in technology.
