Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Radiographer functions as an integral part of the Radiology team to provide patient services and patient care and is responsible for performing designated radiographic procedures, unaided and supervised, within guidelines as set out by department policies and procedures

Key responsibilities of the role:
- Perform routine radiographic procedures, unaided and within guidelines as set out by department policies and procedures.
- Assist in more complex radiological examinations under the supervision of senior staff.
- Support and reassure patients, taking into account their physical and psychological needs.
- Ensure that patients, patient relatives, and staff are protected from unnecessary hazards due to ionizing radiation or hazards related to the MRI machine
- Record imaging identification and patient documentation.
- Maintain patient records in accordance with Hospital policies and statutory regulations.
- Record patient information, access clinical information, plan daily caseload and carry out statistical analysis in the hospital information system.
- Participate in departmental on-call rota as per the demands of the Radiology Department service.
- Check equipment on a regular basis and report faults or malfunctions.
- Perform administrative tasks as required.

Requirements

- Bachelors degree in Radiology or Medical Imaging from an accredited Institute or a Higher Diploma course in Radio-Diagnosis (minimum 3 years duration) from an accredited institution.
- A current license, registration or certificate to practice.
- Licensure/certification in the country where the qualification was obtained.

Generic Skills/Abilities/Experience Required:
- Sound knowledge of radiographic principles.
- Current clinical knowledge of radiology practices.
- Experience in conducting all radiological procedures, including those in the Operating Theatre.
- High level of verbal and written communication skills
- High level of interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated competence in working autonomously
- Computer literacy with intermediate knowledge of MS Office
- Fluency in written and spoken English; Arabic would be an advantage
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Experience in the delivery of education to patients and their families
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment
- Demonstrated commitment to developing and improving personal education skills appropriate to the position
