The Job Opportunity

Serco Middle East is looking to hire Regional Category Specialist; the key purpose of this role is to provide category and market expertise to support Serco's spend and supply base in the Middle East region for an assigned category cluster. Reporting to the Middle East Regional Category Owner, the incumbent will support the regional category management strategy and business outcomes for stakeholders in Serco's Middle East Divisions in order to maximise benefits.

Key accountabilities

- Engages and works in collaboration and alignment with global Category Management Director and global Category Owners
- Engages and works across the Procurement function globally with Procurement Business Partners, global Category Management, Procurement Service Management and Serco's third party Procurement Delivery Partner
- Understand and continually review regional category strategies and plans
- Retain real-time knowledge of suppliers, market drivers and influencing factors in the category
- Track strategy implementation, project delivery, spend, performance and compliance.
- Engage with Business Partners to understand the requirements of the business (including bids) and ensure they are met
- Support the wider business with the tools and knowledge to conduct self-serve Procurement activity for all sourcing projects below the GBP 100k threshold
- Comply with and expect compliance with Serco Procurement Policy, Standards and Standard Operating Procedures and act within limits of delegated authority
- Support Regional Category Owner with the development and prioritisation of a pipeline of sourcing projects for execution by Serco's third party Procurement Delivery Partner

Requirements

What we are looking for in our candidates

- Graduate calibre with a Bachelor's degree
- At least 6 years experience within Procurement
- Demonstrates a consistent track record of delivery within Procurement organisations
- Will have a strong track record of Procurement, with category management focus
- Has expert category and market knowledge of the assigned categories
- Has a global and strategic mindset while being flexible to local differences and creative to encourage and seek innovative approaches

Specific requirements

- Experience of living and working within the Middle East is desirable, with experience of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia being a particular advantage
- Fluent written and verbal English, other languages (particularly Arabic) are desirable
- Has the Behaviour and Capabilities stated as most critical to this role
- Possesses strong business acumen, able to understand complex business needs and drivers and identify ways for Procurement to address
- Demonstrates track record of developing and maintaining strong senior stakeholder relationships
