Job Description
The United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a Research Associate position. Candidates for this position are expected to have a strong commitment to research excellence. The appointee will be involved in performing experiments in the field of neuroscience, channelopthies and autism, establishing new technologies in the laboratory, analyzing data, writing manuscripts and presenting data at international venues. Screening of applications will continue until the position is filled.
Requirements
Minimum Qualification
Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences. A Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience and the following skills will be considered an asset:
Preferred Qualification
Genomic DNA extraction and identification of variants in ion channels genes. Preparation of constructs, chimeric molecules, mutagenesis, in vitro transcription of RNA and transgenic animal genotyping. General molecular biology, bacteriology, cell biology and cell culture techniques (iPSCs). Homologous and heterologous expression of ion channels, receptors, regulatory proteins, etc. Dissection of Xenopus laevis frogs, oocytes collection and nuclear microinjection of DNA or cytoplasmic microinjection of in vitro transcribed mRNA. Patch-clamp recordings from neurons of mouse brain slices, cultured neurons derived from iPSCs and, from transfected mammalian cells. Patch-clamp single-channel and two-electrode voltage-clamp recordings from Xenopus laevis oocytes. Single-electrode EEG recording. Behavioral tests of anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and autism in rodents. Documented skills in writing and submitting scientific manuscripts for publication and presenting data in the form of posters and oral communications at international venues.

A minimum of 3-years' experience in the field.
