Research Manager

Job description / Role

Our client, a leading company providing project intelligence research and construction industry research is now looking for Research Manager who will join their growing team. Reporting to the Data Management Director and you will be responsible for managing the operations of the Data Management department to meet product requirements and service expectations.

The Research Manager, must follow the direction of his/her immediate supervisor and operate in accordance with the Company’s Procedure, Policies, HSE Standards and Quality Management System.

The operational responsibilities of this position include:
- Identifying and understanding specific industry/ market requirements for data acquisition and processing.
- Working with the sales department to target specific industry/market segment and ensuring that the data is available for the same.
- Cultivating and building relationships within the construction industry to acquire information.
- Gathering data from online and other sources.
- Staying updated on construction industry developments within the assigned industry and market segment to serve as a subject matter expert.
- Responding timely and accurately to queries pertaining to information requests.
- Provide business reports and analysis as required.
- Leading a multi-cultural, industry focused research and analysis team to ensure smooth daily functioning and to meet the department’s operational and strategic objectives.
- Setting goals based on the company’s strategy, customer requirements and a macro-analysis of the industry.
- Conducting time-studies to set expectations and performance targets.
- Developing and executing a plan to meet daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual quantitative and qualitative targets.
- Ensuring a process of continuous improvement through implementing procedures and work-instructions, assimilating suggestions and feedback on effectiveness and implementing changes.
- Training and mentoring the Data Management team to meet quality and performance expectations.
- Cultivating and managing relationships with key players within the construction industry.
- Participating in recruiting, staff appraisals and other operational HR functions pertaining to the Data Management department.
- Providing business reports and analysis as required.
- Staying updated on developments pertaining to the scope covered by the company Databases to serve as a subject matter expert on the construction industry.
- Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; attending industry events and participating in professional societies.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 6 years experience in operations management.
- Knowledge and understanding of construction industry will be an added advantage.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/QUALITIES:
- Should have proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Should have excellent oral, written communication skills, presentation skills, analytical, people management and Interpersonal skills.
- Should be able to lead, motivate, coach, teach, multi-task, set priorities and meet strict deadlines, encourage and promote team performance.
- Should be able to work on their own and take initiatives.
