Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Serve as a resource to the physician, nursing and ancillary staff in relation to technical and therapeutic aspects of respiratory care to the effective and safe methods administering respiratory therapy in accordance with established standard.
- Effectively applies ventilator / therapies to patients and monitors the patient response.
- Modify appropriately therapy / techniques based on clinical and laboratory data in consultation with the Doctors.
- Effectively administer therapeutic gases and medications.
- Perform assorted pulmonary hygiene procedures and assesses the effectiveness of therapy.
- Interprets basic EKG tracing and perform and documents clinical assessments based on knowledge of disease states, physiology and pharmaceutical interactions.
- Perform appropriately arterial punctures and other hazardous procedures after receiving departmental authorization.
- Maintain and manipulate blood gas machines and pulse ox meter as well as other gas monitoring device according to department standard and policies.
- To operate effectively respiratory therapy equipment such as oxygen cylinders, humidifiers, nebulizers, ventilators, Spiro meters, respirators, suction equipment, and EKG machines.
- To conduct appropriately respiratory tests and apply Respiratory therapy treatment.
- Interpret accurately respiratory test result.
- To react quickly and effectively in emergencies
- Actively participate in management of Code Blue and trauma team
- Actively assist in orientation of new staff.
- Actively participate in continuing education programs.
- Perform other duties as directed or assigned by supervisor.
- To keep accurate records and patient charts.
- Adhere to Infection Control and Health and Safety measures.
- Be actively involved in the quality improvement activities within the Department.

Requirements

- Two years of relevant experience in the same field.
- HAAD/DHA/MOH license.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good command of written and spoken English language; knowledge of Arabic is preferred.
- Organized and able to work methodically.
- Presentable and professional attitude.
- Able to effectively work under pressure.
- Ability to effectively lead and motivate a professional team.
- Excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Able to relate to people from different cultural backgrounds
