Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Retail Interior Designer will be responsible for designing, planning, documenting and assisting in the completion of all Kansai Paint interiors in line across all retail destinations, concessions, tradeshows and other. With a strong understanding of the Kansai brand, you will create an inspiring consumer experience that will complement and drive sales activity. As well as project managing the design stages you will also coordinate the stock all non-fixed display items, artwork and accessories and oversee new store and product launches and related promotional events.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor the standard of our retail spaces and suggest potential refurbishments and cost-benefit analysis proposals for approval
- Work with Marketing & Retail on all architectural and interior branding concepts and to establish all decorative elements, e.g. furniture, materials, lighting and accessories
- Manage the implementation of brand identity and design across all flagship stores (including renewal, adaptation and redesign)
- Work with our CAD Technician to document and design visuals for all new and existing shops, renovations, shop-in-shops, concessions, tradeshows and work requests
- Coordinate with all internal departments for meetings & approvals
- Make site visits to new and current shops & stockists to design the internal space and exterior fascia’s
- Develop and increase the brand’s in-store product and colour specification offering through displays, tools and catalogues
- Project manage the production of all interior and exterior display graphics & items, including pictures, canvases, vinyls, signage etc
- Manage the development of brand content through colour forecasts, interior design publications and software to promote conversations with customers on colour trends and interior design
- Oversee and lead the improvement of the brand’s in-home consultation service offering by leading the capability development initiatives for the store consultation teams
- Work simultaneously on various projects art various stages of the process
- Work with contractors, furniture suppliers, and fabricators to meet overall project objectives Research market for additional suppliers to source new and existing interior design products including cost reduction initiatives, improving production capabilities and durability requirements
- Compiling budgets, purchase orders and status update

Requirements

- Degree in Interior Design/Architecture/Decorative Arts or Equivalent
- Minimum 3-4 years working in similar role or in an architectural firm or in-house design studio environment
- Strong conceptual, design and branding skills
- Proven success with a creative and inspiring portfolio
- Proficient in Auto CAD and graphics software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design.

Functional Skills & Specific Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of the design process; including development / execution of all conceptual designs, design details, furniture and sourcing of materials.
- Understanding of architectural construction documents; including floor plans, sections, elevations, and details.
- Understand general construction standards for building exteriors, interiors, fixtures, and operational standards for retail.
- Knowledge of units and measure to communicate site specific requirements/dimensions
- Ability to prioritise, multi-task and meet concurrent deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proven project management experience.
- A good understanding of brand values and guidelines.
- Ability to sustain effective relationships with suppliers.
- The ability to coordinate other teams to deliver multiple projects to a high standard and within deadlines.
- Experience of managing budgets effectively across multiple projects
- Responsibility for planning, lead times, deadlines and schedules.
- Strong presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of management.
- Superior oral and written communications skills.
