Sanctions Analyst - Help us fight Financial Crime

Job Description

The Sanctions Analyst will work with the Sanctions Compliance Operations Manager for the MENAP region to support sanctions compliance operations including; (cash and trade) transaction review and escalation within transactional systems, support to the business on payment related queries, support to the team in terms of metrics collection and transactional investigation.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
* Assist the Regional Head of Sanctions - MENAP, and the Senior Sanctions Advisor - Sanctions Compliance Operations in overseeing the regional compliance responsibilities for Sanctions
* Review, process and disposition sanctions alerts escalated to Financial Crime Compliance (""FCC"") from transactional activity
* Advise on specific actual and proposed transactions from the business
* Provide advice on Sanctions compliance issues that arise through the business and country compliance functions
* Provide client-based and transaction-based support to the businesses to countries across the region
* Be updated on current events, regulatory issues and new and changing sanctions regulations, in country, in the UK and the US, and internationally
* Evaluate and monitor existing procedures and develop new procedures, systems and controls as required in line with current Sanctions Compliance requirements
* Escalate immediately to Regional Head of FCC and Global Sanctions Advisor any material breaches or potential breaches of sanctions laws, regulation or Group procedures
* Engage in specific sanctions related projects where required
* Assist with local countries' list management as required
* Assist with transactional investigations as required
* Evaluate and advise on reputational and sanctions risk arising from customers and transactions

Leadership and Management
* Display leadership and teamwork to the operations teams in countries and in regional processing hubs
* Exhibit leadership and teamwork when dealing with business colleagues across the region, who are the internal clients for sanctions-related advice and assistance

Stakeholders Relations
* Work closely with the other members of the Regional and Group's sanctions compliance team.
* Support management in meeting its compliance obligations as outlined in the Group's Sanctions Policy relating to identification of suspicious activity.
* Provide support and assistance to the business lines and Country and Regional Compliance Officers on the implementation and operation of the Sanctions Compliance systems
* Support sanctions advisors in other regions

Requirements

* You will have a minimum of 3-5 years solid Sanctions experience.
* Experience with trade payments
* Risk based approach to work
* It would be highly desirable if you had any relevant qualifications / certifications within FCC e.g. ACAMS etc
