The Customer Sanctions Review (CSR) Analyst will work with the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan (MENAP) Head of Financial Crime Investigations to provide support to the Sanctions Team in managing the overall sanctions compliance framework.

The CSR Analyst will work closely with both Operations and front line Relationship Managers to undertake investigations on Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) customers when certain sanctions risks or red flags are identified. The Analyst will need to make risk based recommendations regarding the outcome of a client investigation and clearly articulate and document all relevant findings to the Sanctions Advisory team.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Overall Responsibilities
* Assist the Regional Head of Sanctions, Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan (MENAP) by working with the Head, Financial Crime Investigations to review and investigate Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) client relationships upon trigger events
* Review information available to the analyst both internally and publically in order to evaluate the risk that client poses to SCB.
* Using all of the information gleaned from the review, make risk based recommendations regarding the client relationship, and clearly document all findings.
* Escalate immediately to Sanctions Advisor any material breaches or potential breaches of sanctions laws, regulation or Group procedures
* Engage in specific sanctions/ other investigation related projects where required
* Ensure that CSR Management Information (MI) is accurate and reported on a timely manner
* Escalate any build up of investigations / backlogs in a timely manner to ensure expectations and risks are managed where appropriate
* Prioritize work volumes using a risk based methodology
* Keep abreast of current events, regulatory issues and new and changing sanctions regulations, in country, in the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (US), and internationally

Leadership and Management
* Display leadership and teamwork to the outsourced Operational processing hubs which CSR regularly interacts with
* Exhibit leadership and teamwork when dealing with business colleagues across the region, who are the internal clients for sanctions-related advice and assistance

Stakeholders Relations
* Support Sanctions Advisors and Country sanctions contacts in other regions on client investigations
* Converse well with Relationship Managers, working closely with them in order to resolve investigations timely.
* Build relationships with the Global Services Shared Center and Cash Management Operations in order to improve efficiency.

Requirements

* Ideally looking for candidates with both Sanctions and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) experience
* As a minimum candidates should have Sanctions payments experience.
* Successful candidates will have experience in working on remediation projects
* Excellent attention to detail
* Ability to prioritize and manage high workload volumes
* Good communication skills ; knows how to articulate risk
