This varied role requires an experienced Senior Business Development Manager, who has a passion for driving results for the organisation and its clients, along with a deep customer focus to support relationship development.

In the GCC the principal role is to help clients grow their business by providing market research to assist them with identifying potential local partners; agents and distributors and customers.

Our client is part of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment and is the principal economic development agency for the represented country with responsibility for supporting the growth of the countries economy through the development of its businesses, locally and internationally.

The Dubai located office helps companies to increase exports, develop collaborations and market investment location, bringing greater economic benefit and prosperity to the people and the relevent country

General Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Senior Business Development Manager will be responsible for opportunity identification and analysis; conducting market research, analyzing and identifying business opportunities; identifying potential customers and representatives, supporting market visit by individuals and groups across the primary markets of the Arabian Gulf States, principally, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Oman.
- He / She will work with a wide network of high profile Government officials, stakeholders, businesses, vendors, clients and colleagues across all regions.
- The job holder will build the contact database, research and develop short opportunity reports on key sectors relevant to the proposition, specifically, construction, infrastructure and engineering, including supply chain opportunities with several SMEs.
- Recognising the size of the team, the job holder, subject to workload, may be asked to support colleagues with clients in other business sectors during peak periods.
- The importance of being flexible is paramount to working with their small business development team.

Key Duties include:
- Build and develop a structured contact database across the entire region
- Support the Head of Business Development by seeking and developing (pull) new business
- Undertaking market research, identification of customers/representation and programme setting for visiting clients whether individual companies or in groups for exhibitions/trade missions.
- Proactively undertake market analysis and prepare sector-based opportunity statements to target and attract companies to the Arabian Gulf region
- Provide business advice and consultancy to client companies

Requirements

- An Engineering or Construction services professional qualification;
- Excellent knowledge of the business and political framework in the GCC Region, and how best to operate in the commercial environment, using the best routes to market
- Ideally, but not essential, recent experience of successfully and robustly undertaking a Business Development Management/Research position for a similar type of organisation
- Ability to develop relationships at a strategic level and across all levels in the organisation and senior Governmental positions
- Passion about being a customer advocate with a sense of urgency and energy
- Ability to multi-task and communicate effectively in a high paced environment
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Results driven with due attention to deadlines and outputs
- Customer focused
- Demonstrate flexibility to support the overall objectives of the team
- Willing to travel regularly across the GCC Region
- Strong IT skills and literacy in Microsoft office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

- Market research for companies, business development and market advice key to the growth of exporting companies. Measurement will be constant, intensive and deadline driven

- Customer Focus – Our client is a customer driven organisation and expects applicants to have experience and examples of handling customers professionally and sensitively, at all levels.

- Working with others – the team’s diversity and geographic spread plus it’s remoteness from HQ means that this is a critical competence. The appointed person must be able to work independently as well as be a team player and be able to adjust to the geographic challenges of the IMEA region and the various partners/stakeholders.

Additionally, they must develop relationships with the government officials and companies to facilitate easy access for the country's companies in the market.

- Communicating & Influencing – effective communication and an assertive but fair approach are essential to the success of the team. You must have excellent expressive skills whether on paper, by power point or personally with client companies as well as companies in the region.
