Senior Financial Accountant (Westerner)

Job description / Role

Our JLT based client operates in the blue-collar sector. Due to sustained growth in the company, the Head of Finance needs additional support in the form of an Assistant Finance Manager with a background as a Financial Accountant.

Only native English speakers are being shortlisted. Salary is AED 23-25k/month.

Responsibilities:
- Review and post deferred revenue journal
- Review and post stock journals if required
- Review and post medical insurance
- Supervise all invoice payments
- Review and confirm airfare, gratuity and annual leave prepayment/accrual with HR
- Responsible for producing reconciliation for life cycle fund and reserve funds accounts to verify the accuracy of the liability
- Produce the monthly management accounts
- Once management accounts are finalised, produce and circulate reports to the senior management team
- Produce the first draft of the company’s Financial Statements in line with IFRS for review by the Finance and Commercial Manager
- Liaise with the external auditors
- Responsible for production of year-end audit file containing all reconciliations with appropriate back-up
- Produce / complete all supporting schedules requested by the external auditors
- Devise an annual internal audit plan covering all departments based on operational and financial risk
- Identify weaknesses in the control environment and propose improved controls
- Responsible for reviewing the weekly bank reconciliation at agreed frequency, ensuring reconciling items are investigated and resolved promptly
- Responsible for preparing weekly cash flow forecast
- Responsible for identifying cash balances to be placed on deposit
- Review paperwork re deposit refund for fit out projects ensuring balance to be repaid is correct and posting codes are entered correctly
- Assisting operational management with creation of their annual budgets
- Review the individual business stream budgets submitted by the operational management
- Assisting Finance and Commercial Manager with review and consolidation of budgets and forecasts

Requirements

- English native speakers only
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with audit experience
- Min 2-3 years spent in a Financial Accounting role in industry
- Previous UAE work experience is essential
- Comprehensive understanding of financial reporting and a thorough knowledge of IFRS
- Extensive reconciliation skills
- Knowledge and experience of computerised accounting systems
