Business
* Awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the Group operates appropriate to the role.
* Using these insights to provide stakeholders with informed, sensitive and practical solutions.

Processes
* Providing effective and regular advice and communication to key internal and external stakeholders regarding the agreed upon strategy and management of disputes and significant regulatory or government investigations.
* Providing training, advice and assistance on the implementation of best practice in relation to managing disputes and regulatory or government investigations.

People and Talent
* Supporting team members and peers to develop skills and knowledge and sharing experience and best practice for the benefit of the Legal function as a whole.
* Among other things, this may take the form of assisting with internal training, developing and revising guidance notes, and direct peer mentoring.

Risk Management
* Identifying legal risks relating to disputes and regulatory or government investigations and their outcomes globally and working with internal stakeholders to ensure the effective mitigation and management of such risks.
* Ensure senior management is fully informed of all key risks and issues in area of responsibility.
* Play an active role in identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, mitigating and reporting legal and regulatory risks for the Group, particularly in the area of major disputes and regulatory and government investigations.

Governance
* Have an awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

Regulatory & Business Conduct
* Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
* Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.

Requirements

* Qualified to practice as a solicitor or barrister in England & Wales and/or Hong Kong and/or Singapore and/or another common law jurisdiction and/or as an attorney qualified in New York
* PQE with dispute resolution experience in private practice or in-house financial institution with experience of handling complex, cross-border disputes involving significant amounts in issue, and experience with regulatory or government investigations involving financial institutions
* Excellent analytical skills, to review the background facts and identify the key legal issues raised by disputes and regulatory or government investigations
* Sound judgment and problem-solving skills - leveraging a combination of technical, legal abilities and common sense to manage complex disputes and significant regulatory and government investigations
* Excellent attention to detail
