Employment: Full Time

We are looking for a European Senior Planning Engineer (Buildings) to work for a main contractor in Abu Dhabi.

Job Role:
- Provide Assistance to the Civil/ Construction Estimation departments as required in preparation of tender schedules, method studies and all associated planning data required for technical submittals, including attendance at technical presentation meetings.
- Receive all available bills of quantity, specifications, drawings and contractual particulars from the Estimate Leader.
- Study all available information, discuss technical aspects with specialists concerned, and agree a project execution strategy and methods with the estimation team as a basis for formulating the tender schedule.
- Agree a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for the proposed project, if not already specified in the contract documents, after deciding how to split down the total scope into manageable units, and with consideration of organizational and project monitoring aspects.
- Perform a quantity measurement I physical take-off from drawings as necessary to break down the bills of quantity to correspond to the WBS in order to be used as the basis for all schedule calculations.
- Inform the Estimate Leader of any suspected discrepancies detected between the drawings and quantities, so these may be checked independently.
- Develop notes, calculations, sketches and draft schedules as a basis for ongoing discussion during the tender period and to verify schedule logic to be input into the final schedule.
- Perform initial scheduling within the milestones and time limits as specified in the tender documents. In cases where these cannot be achieved, agree the schedule strategy with the Estimate Leader and decide whether alternative or qualified schedules will be submitted.
- Produce interim tables, charts and histograms to illustrate major materials or plant/equipment requirements which may be necessary.
- Produce the final Tender Schedule to the level of detail as specified in the tender documents or as deemed appropriate.
- The schedule will be formulated using the Critical Path Method, (CPM) and will be presented using the precedence network technique, in association with "Primavera" project management software.
- Incorporate as necessary a Procurement Schedule in similar manner to, and fully co¬ordinated with, the proposed Construction Schedule. In the cases of Engineering,
- Procurement and Construction (EPC) proposals, formulate a fully integrated schedule after receiving input concerning materials procurement and design activities from specialists from the respective departments.
- Resource load the schedule with manpower and major materials quantities as deemed appropriate.

Produce the final "Planning Dossier" for inclusion in the Technical Submittal, which may include, for example, any or all of the following:
- Summary of Contract Particulars
- Introductory Notes on Schedule Philosophy
- Schedule Narrative
- Explanation of Activity Numbering System
- Explanation of Activity Coding Structure
- Explanation of Project Calendars
- Summary Schedules
- Detailed Schedules
- Overall Manpower Histogram
- Detailed Manpower Histograms and/or Resource Loading Charts
- Overall Concrete Demand Histogram
- Detailed Histograms for Major Materials
- Histograms/Charts for Major Plant Requirements
- Overall Construction Progress S-Curve
- Summary Construction Progress Forecast (eg. Monthly)
- Overall Value of Work Executed S-Curve
- Summary Value of Work Executed Forecast (eg. Monthly)

Participate in post-submission amplification and clarification studies as required in support of the estimation team.

Requirements

- Must be well versed in Programme Management, Project Planning & Scheduling & Primavera

Experienced in:
- Production & Progress S-Curves, Manpower Histograms
- Progress, Cost Measurement & Control System
- Areas of Concern I Delay Logs Change of Scope, Claims, Variations
- Strong Communication I Reporting Skills
- Must have Degree / Diploma in Engineering
- Must be Western nationality
- Must have 12 years Planning experience
- Must have Middle East experience
