Senior Quantity Surveyor

Job description / Role

Our Client requires a Senior Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) for their growing commercial services business in Abu Dhabi.

You will be a proficient client facing senior commercial representative for a number of high profile projects in the Emirate and expected manage teams of up to six junior staff in project delivery at both pre and post contract stages.

Key Responsibilities:
- Pre and Post contract commercial management of client deliverables for high profile projects;
- Familiar with POMI, CESSM3 and NRM rules of measurement;
- Familiar with FIDIC Red Books and D&B Contracts;
- Preparation of cost plans and Concept, Schematic and Detailed Design Stages;
- Preparation of Tender BoQs and development for Contract BoQs through V.E and contract negotiation stages;
- Management of in-house Cost Data base and estimating team;
- Attendance and leading of Value Engineering workshops;
- Tender Services including preparation of tender documents, tender queries responding, tender analysis and recommendations, tender negotiations and contract drafting;
- Contract Administration (contractual and commercial correspondences, claims, delay analysis etc.);
- Management of bonds, insurances and guarantee logs;
- Interim valuations and payment certificates;
- Variations analysis, recommendations and management;
- Performing risk and value management and cost control functions;
- Undertaking costs analysis project work;
- Identifying, analyzing and developing responses to commercial risks;
- Writing detailed progress/ cost reports;
- Reporting to Client Representative on all commercial issues;
- Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations;
- Managing small team of commercial staff;
- Client facing and leading commercial meetings.

Requirements

- Degree in Quantity Surveying from recognized UK University;
- MRICS qualification as minimum;
- Min 5 years post-degree experience in commercial role;
- Must have consultant and/ or client background for minimum of 3 years;
- Must have previous experience of FIDIC Traditional and Design and Build Contracts;
- Hotels/ Retail/ Residential/ Commercial experience a must;
- Knowledge in the use of QS software CATO or similar is required;
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
- Independent worker who is able to lead small team of commercial staff;
- Possess good project background and proven English language technical writing ability and skills.
